Cathy's place offers a simple pleasant experience, secluded and quiet but just a couple of minutes from downtown Ithaca. Cathy is a great personable host.
The bed is comfortable and the kitchen has everything you need for a short stay.
This was my second stay at Cathy's West Hill Hideaway Studio. I felt like I was coming home! Welcome snacks were ready on arrival. It was hot and humid outside, but the studio is well-insulated and the fan in the closet kept things nice and cool. My son slept in the hide-a-bed on the second night (move out week from college), and woke well-rested. Not only is the studio nicely furnished, there are places to put your things, even in the small bathroom. The kitchen is small but well-equipped, even enough to cook a full breakfast. Very private and quiet, but the hosts are right there if you need anything.
Cathy was a wonderful host! She made us feel so welcome, from restocking our breakfast treats each day to talking with us about the area. You will have a wonderful, relaxing time here!
Cathy was a wonderful, welcoming host. West Hill Hideaway met and exceeded our expectations! It is just as pictured - a lovely studio apartment attached to the back of the home, with lots of privacy and a beautiful view of the backyard. We saw deer every morning as we enjoyed the breakfast goodies which Cathy had left for us - muffins, orange juice, fresh fruit and yogurt. The amenities included everything we could possibly need - basic kitchen supplies, closet with hangers, iron, hair dryer, shampoo and body wash, towels, wifi access, etc. Peaceful location, but within a 10-15 minute drive to supermarket, wineries, waterfalls, colleges, Ithaca downtown, restaurants, etc. My husband and I had a delightful experience and hope to visit again soon! Highly recommended.
had a great time in cathy's place. very warm and welcoming. very close to town and easy to access. and it was so sweet of her to provide muffins and oj and fruit for the morning!
Cathy is a very welcoming host. The apartment is very well outfitted with equipment for a great stay. The neighborhood is very quiet including deer munching right outside the window. A little too far to walk to downtown conveniently.
Cathy did a great job making us feel welcome-- we were a little late, but she showed us the apartment, and made sure we had all we needed. Because it was a cooler night than expected, she even provided us a little space heater to use. Nicest of all, she made us a delicious banana bread for the morning, complete with butter and fresh orange juice.
Though I slept wonderfully, my girlfriend (who is a notoriously light sleeper) did want me to note that the radiator's noises caught her off guard, and the room was a little too bright for her in the early morning. That being said, only use that as a gauge if, like her, you're high maintenance and need complete silence and darkness to get a good night sleep.
Overall, it was a very comfortable stay, made very special by Cathy's breakfast and the wonderful experience of waking up to the sounds of birds chirping.
This past weekend was my second stay at Cathy's studio apartment, set back from downtown Ithaca on a quiet street in the woods. It is so peaceful there--a comfortable place to return to after a day of socializing and exploring. I especially like the setting, watching deer come out of the woods at dusk to nibble on promising looking shoots. The bed is comfortable, the kitchenette is well stocked, and Cathy is available for any needs. (This visit she swept the snow off our car, for which we were very grateful!)
The apartment was terrific for our short stay in Ithaca. The location is great and the host has the right balance between being available and letting us do our own thing. We look forward to staying there again!
My boyfriend and I stayed at Cathy's place for Valentine's Day weekend. She was extremely friendly and provided breakfast for us as well as chocolates! The property is just beautiful, the bathroom had everything you could possibly need, the kitchen had plenty of equipment to cook with. Cathy is a very friendly woman and made us feel as if we could ask for anything. We would absolutely return for a second stay.
Cathy is a wonderful host; my family and I have stayed with her many times over the years. Her home is drop dead gorgeous, with many striking antiques, a long driveway, amidst rolling hills. Perfect for sledding in the winter, and picnicking in the summer. We've known each other since college, and she and her family are among the most precious prizes in our lives. you will love her, and your stay with them! I recommend her as a host and her home without reservation.
