Sabrina was a very responsive and thoughtful host. She was very communicative throughout the process.
Her house is truly a special place, it's surrounded by water and is very private. Sabrina has done a great job of restoring the house and decorating it. The house was clean and fully stocked for everything we needed for our stay.
Highly recommended for anyone who needs some relaxing time in a quiet place.
Spent 3 idyllic nights at Sabrina's home for a family trip to Bethel. It rained much of the time we were there but with so many windows and covered porches it was as if we were outside the entire time.
The tiny hamlet of Liberty is 5 minutes away (at best )where you can pick up any necessaries you may have forgotten.
We found the people there and in all the surrounding area to be polite and friendly.
Sabrina's place is set off the beaten path where you will see no other people. If you are looking for a retreat, you've found it.
We spent time taking advantage of the area and all it has to offer but it was so nice to come "home" each evening to a place that felt like home and not a hotel room.
As others have mentioned Sabrina responds quickly and is thorough in her description not only of the house but of the house rules so that you know exactly what to do in all situations that might arise.
The driveway is rather long and can get muddy so bring along your SUV or other sturdy vehicle as a sports car may have difficulty maneuvering the path.
This was my third stay at Sabrina's magical house which in itself says it all! Coming back again in 3 weeks.
Everything that everyone has described below in the reviews is true. Idyllic setting, charming house in beautiful forest with wonderful lake and waterfall. Sitting out in the morning listening to the birds is incredible.
Sabrina herself is a great host, very flexible and accommodating. Also the house is very well stocked with all basic supplies.
Sabrina was a great host. Very easy planning regarding arrival and check-out and a nice, long email with detailed information about the house and activities in the surrounding area. The house has so much history - we loved the old pictures showing the house as a trout hatchery and resort destination. We also enjoyed the sound of the water surrounding the house and watching ducks and fish play in the pond.
The house is well equipped with supplies and we even used the kitchen to make some homemade jam, yum. Don't expect any modern furniture or amenities but do expect a lot of charm! Only advice is to arrive during the day, as the driveway would be a little hard to spot at night.
Sabrina's home is just as described! Magical! Very cool & fun place to stay! Sabrina was very helpful with answering all of our questions and always quick to reply! I would definitely like to stay there again sometime, it's the perfect weekend getaway spot. Loved sitting on the back porch during the day and soaking up the sun while listening to the sounds of nature & the waterfall. Super relaxing! 10/10
Sabrina's home was perfect for our children -- three adults, two granddaughters and two dogs. We live nearby, but there wasn't room for everyone at our house. The guests said the house was lovely, quiet, imaginatively decorated, and featured the soothing sound of rushing water from the stream -- a great sleep aide. Sabrina and I worked out the ground rules, eg. no dogs on furniture, take garbage away. She called to make sure they had arrived and that all their needs were met. All seven had a grand time. Hope they will come back and stay there again.
Rustic house in the woods meets magical lake house - had an amazing time on this secluded and amazing property. Two sides of the houses had beautiful flowers growing in front of them, a third side of the house has a deck that's right on a small lake/pond ringed by forest - which we had a great time hiking around in. And there's a waterfall! Right next to one of the cozy bedrooms.
Sabrina was a very thoughtful and generous host. Would totally come back here!
My visit to Sabrina's was perfect. From our first interaction (I.e. Me sending a last minute to Sabrina in desperate search for a President's Day weekend getaway) to the last (a text to say farewell), Sabrina was kind, patient and easy to interact with.
Her home is as perfect as the pictures and stocked with everything your heart just might desire. Pots and pans galore, great kitchen knives for cooking a feast and plenty of dishes. The bedrooms are more perfect than the pictures - they are retreats from reality.
We were visiting on the coldest weekend of the year (negative temps) and stayed warm. Due to the temps we didn't spend as much time outside as I had planned but did go for a couple of 30 minutes walks by the lake and it is incredibly peaceful.
Finally, Sabrina openly welcomed not just us humans but also my two dogs who also loved the place (mainly because of all the trees).
We did not want to leave and cannot wait to return!
We had a wonderful weekend at Sabrina's home. The house has a great location next to the water, which makes for a very relaxing atmosphere. Everything was as promised and Sabrina was very good with communication. We'll hopefully be back!
Sabrina's house is an amazing and truly magical getaway. It is only 2 hours from NYC but will transport you to some cool relaxing place that you thought only existed in your dreams. It's so beautiful to wake up to the sound of the water rushing, the birds singing etc. etc. etc. She's a great hostess who bakes the best brownies in the northeast!
