My mother and I had a comfortable stay at Ralf's house while visiting the area. He wasn't there at the time, but very thoughtfully laid out food for breakfast and left clear directions to find what we needed. As the description mentions, there is traffic noise during the day, but if that doesn't bother you, this is a great option with very easy access to all the attractions of the Berkshires.
Ralf was a great host and certainly made us feel welcome and comfortable in his charming home in the Berkshires.
My friend and I loved staying with Ralf! His historic home is absolutely gorgeous and we loved touring his lovely garden and talking about the nature in his yard. He was a very gracious and laid back host who greeted us with a glass of wine, made sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay, and prepared a beautiful breakfast for us. The area is wonderful; we were there for a Tanglewood weekend, but also made time for antique and thrift shopping in nearby West Stockbridge, MA. We left the weekend feeling refreshed and inspired and will definitely check out Ralf's listing first next time we plan a trip to the area.
Thank you so much for that lovely review.
I look forward to hosting you again - anytime.
As I said I very much enjoyed your company.
Kitty and I made it back safely to the sweltering city.
Have a great week and thank you once again.
Ralf is an excellent host. I believe his being European means he has a better sensibility as to what it takes to be a good host. Good communication back and forth in advance of finalizing the reservation.
He was working in his vast garden when we arrived, but quickly had us settled in following a quick tour. His home is well-ordered and clean. Frankly, we were mostly there to sleep and morning breakfast - we were off in The Berkshires during the daytime. But a great spot to rest in the middle of the day should you need it. The double bed was firm, which is what we like. He is off of a major road in Canaan where there are large trucks making milk runs in the middle of the night - if you're a light sleeper, this would not be for you. The bathroom is modern, although the water heater has a limited capacity that can quickly run out if you like to take long showers. Towels were provided.
Mornings were fantastic with a great breakfast including oats, yogurt, lots of fruit including various berries from his garden, well-seasoned omelet with chives and parsley from his garden, and toasted bread with butter and cheese. Plus great conversation! We enjoyed our morning breakfasts with Ralf. He gave us a tour of his garden on one of the mornings. Very impressive, although we admit we do not have green thumbs.
Ralf was very accommodating. Make sure you communicate your plans in terms of comings and goings so he can work with your schedule.
Ralf welcomed us with fresh flowers and a loaf of bread. Very clean home with wonderful garden and landscape. Well-stocked kitchen and ample room to relax and read.
Thanks for the feed back. I will inform prospective new guests.
THe house was fine with a private room upstairs with a bathroom. Ralf was very nice, and I'm sure would have been more helpful if I had been around more or if I needed anything. The location is good, and is only about ten minutes away from most Berkshire towns. No air conditioning though if that would bother you.
My son and I had a restful, pleasant few days at Ralf's lovely home. He's an avid organic gardener and an interesting person.
Ralf is a delightful and very accommodating host. He was attuned to my dietary needs and provided wonderful breakfasts for us. We enjoyed our stay very much. Highly recommended!
Ralf's Berkshire Homestead was a wonderful experience. We spent four nights. The home is easy to find and close to many of the attractions we wanted to visit (Stockbridge, Tanglewood, Williamstown, Appalachian Trail). We were able to cook in the kitchen and enjoyed eating on an outside terrace surrounded by beautiful gardens. Ralf is a gracious and thoughtful host. The four of us look forward to returning to this very special place.
Ralf was a very hospitable host, you feel at home in his beautiful house , nice breakfast overlooking his nice garden, I highly recommend this place for anyone who want to discover berkshire and the hudson valley!
