so I have tried submitting review a few times via the app but unfortunately it didn't go through and I must get this out one way or another.
Alessandro was good at communication and the outdoor shower is great but his place is disgusting. from the surface it looks nice but when you dig deeper it's not what it looks like. the closets smell terrible, all the surfaces are sticky. the bed is gross - lift up the thin "mattress" and see for yourself. the toilet in the master bedroom is clogged and the showers are not properly cleaned.
when we arrived at his airbnb we were super surprised that there was no toilet paper, hand soap, dish soap, paper towels or detergent. the cleaning lady came back, after we checked in, to pick up some towels that she was drying. she took them all but leaving 2 towels for our 5 night stay. we asked her about the basic products (toilet paper, soap, etc) and she said we have to go purchase them. we ended up driving 25mins to the nearest supermarket to get them all. Alessandro texted me later in the day to find out if everything was ok and if I needed anything - so I couldn't resist asking him about the toilet paper, soap, etc. and he responded that he usually provides those items and thought it was weird for them not to be available. so what I figured is, that each time the cleaning lady comes, she takes all these newly purchased products by guests with her - so bizarre and uncalled for.
so besides the airbnb being a flop - Alessandro is also not very kind. he recommended a fish restaurant one evening - we called several times to make a reservation, but alas they didn't understand English - so i texted Alessandro to see if he would be so kind and make them for us. he responded with:
"hi Seema, I’m sorry but I’m a surgeon and i’m very busy and I cannot do this kind of service: italian translation is: “vorrei un tavolo per due (2) PERSONE per questa sera alle 8. grazie”" - my gosh how rude! he could have easily made us reservations in lieu of translating text - obviously he is above his head. I have stayed at many many airbnb's and have never experienced this sort of behavior.
we always leave our airbnb's nice and tidy because we are respectful guests and treat it like it was our own property. for this particular experience we took images before we left just in case Alessandro comes back with some nonsense excuse of how I wasn't a good guest because I'm sure he feels guilty about the way this experience went for us.
Chia is amazing - but this place is definitely not recommend.
