We had a wonderful stay in this apartment in mid October. The apartment was had everything we needed and is in a beautiful spot overlooking the coast. The walk to the house from the road is charming and it was a really peaceful place to spend a few days. Handy spot for touring this coastline, trains are really useful but a car is also a must to get to the house. Caterina was very helpful and kind, and made sure we had everything we needed. We were really grateful for finding us a travel cot for our baby. There was also some food in the fridge for for us on arrival which was kind. Good directions were provided to help find the house. Would recommend. Thank you for a great holiday.
What a fantastic place with stunning views. My wife and I stayed there for three nights at the beginning of October. Great views onto Portofino from the living room (would also be nice when its colder; especially since there also is a fireplace). Also the view from the terrace is very nice although a little blocked by the house itself and the beautiful olive trees. The place is well equipped for cooking, gas stove fridge freezer etc. there even was some food and sparkling wine for us. Its also great for a family with up to three kids. The host also lives in the house at least sometimes, but we actually never saw her except to get the keys and give them back. Actually she told us about Mattana a Trattoria in Sestri Levante, a must go. Lovely beach in Zoagli 5-10 min by car (if you like rocky beaches). The water is fantastically clear. There is construction going on next door. Its rather quiet for construction, but they also work Saturdays. The host was flexible with the checkin time. We would come back any time. The price for the apartment is adequate. It has a DVD player, TV, CD player and some music and DVDs. It also has a piano, but it required tuning.
This was amazing holiday! Thanks Massimo for suggestions with shops, places to see and stories about the place. The house is very comfortable, big and cozy. Great view, nice kitchen were it was pleaser to make dinners. I recommend this place to everybody who want to spend time in Cinqeterre, close to nature, relax and forget any problems))
Beautiful homely property in hills above Zoagli with amazing views and garden space. Only thing to be aware of is walk up from Zoagli while only taking 20 mins is an uphill hike on hot days.
Massimo was friendly and helpful.
Despite a bit of unusual windy and cool August weather upon arrival to Zoagli, we had a wonderful stay at Caterina's home. My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary by making a trip to Italy and wanted to experience Italy off the beaten track somewhat. Caterina's description is very accurate as this home is located on the side of a hill with some steep walking involved but we found that to be very much a part of the unique experience. Like a previous reviewer mentioned, we also walked down to Zoagli through a beautiful path that led us through beautiful vegetation and lovely homes all the way down to the train station, it took us about 30 min but is worth it. We did not have a car, which upon reflection I wished we had to get us to and from the Chiavari train station to the road leading to the house easily. If you are only walking, the Zoagli train station was the closest station to be able to visit other areas such as Portofino and the Cinque Terre. We found this train station to be a bit frustrating as there was never an attendant working and the ticket machine onsite was always out of order and the trains often run late in this region. Aside from that small hiccup, we really loved the house and how unique it was! It is very simple but has an amazing view and a rustic feel with beautiful exposed wood beams but homey. Caterina is so very kind and offered to get us groceries on several occasions since we didn't have a car. She left us several goodies for breakfast and was always available by text to assist us. The kitchen was very convenient to cook in with all the necessary items and the bed was super cozy with extra blankets and pillows at our disposal. The construction work was still going on next door but it seemed to only last a few hours but it didn't really bother us much as it was not terribly loud or disruptive to our stay. We realized that by not staying in a hotel allowed us to meet wonderful locals like Caterina and hear there stories and learn about daily life here, it was a priceless memory for us and we will definitely return again one day!
We loved being at Massimi and Catherina's home, even the short walk to the house, which might not suit families with small children. We enjoyed the view and the charm of the house, which is rustic and quite chic, but don't expect luxury - it is more basic than that, but it also feels like a home that is lived-in, which is rather more appealing than a soulless but perhaps more luxury rental. We loved it, but it might be for everybody. The view is fantastic and right over the sea and to the Portofino peninsular. The train and Via Aurelia make the whole coast very accessible, as we spent a great day in Genoa and another in Sestri Levante via Chiavari, where there is a daily food market.
We left the car near the house and we walked almost every day down to Zoagli's beach. There is a lovely path through the olives plantations, about 30 min walk down (sport shoes recommended) and could be slightly longer and tough to go back up, but we liked it. Zoagli has a beautiful square with restaurants and shops, a small pebbly beach and the train station. We found it very practical with young kids as they had great fun sharing time between the beach and the great fountain in the middle of the square! Our children 8-14 yrs were the prefect age to enjoy the location. Needless to say, as with all Italy, the food is amazing and really good value - the Gelati a daily must-have and where in the world, can both of you enjoy a double espresso on the beach in peak-August for €2? What a great country, lovely friendly people and great hosts.
We would certainly come back again and recommend the house to friends.
