We stayed twice during the past month at this darling chalet, when dropping our teenage son off, and then picking him up, at a nearby summer program. It is extremely comfortable, and in a very tranquil, bucolic setting. Great for a couple's getaway or for a family with children old enough to occupy the separate sleeping loft. (Our teenager loved having his own space!) We especially loved the ample back deck, which gives the feeling of being in a treehouse and is great for bird watching. We cooked dinner there on the gas grill and ate all our meals outside.
We only interacted with Brenda & Todd by email & text. They were always very quick at responding. The Mountain Chalet is very cozy. You will find it just as it is pictured. It is a beautiful location. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, plates & coffee maker. Its about 15-20 minute ride to Front Royal entrance to Shenandoah National Park. Be sure to follow Brenda & Todd's directions to get to the chalet. Our GPS took us on an exciting (almost) off road trip.
This Shenandoah retreat was perfect! Brenda and Todd were great to work with. Brenda responded very quickly to my questions prior to our visit. Their Shenandoah Valley Mountain Chalet was the perfect get-a-way if you are looking to 'unplug' and to truly relax. It was a little over an hour drive to get to the chalet from the DC metro area, which was a pleasent surprise. The neighborhood was incredibly quiet. When we pulled up, there was a young buck in the yard waiting to greet us! The chalet is well appointed, extremely clean, and one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in! The back deck is incredibily private, overlooking lush forest and the mountain range in the back drop. Truly beautiful! We were able to relax on the deck in the late afternoons with no distractions at all. The location is perfect! We enjoyed a leisurely breakfast at The Apple House, a local favorite. We also visited three wineries in the area, and had a fabulous time bringing some great wine back home with us.
This cozy two bedroom chalet is a great value, and we could not have been more pleased with our stay. This was our first experience on AirBnB, and came back boasting to all our friends how wonderful this trip was. Thank you Brenda and Todd for allowing us the time in your chalet!

The Shenandoah Valley Mountain Chalet was just what my wife and I were looking for. We typically go camping on the weekends so being able to experience the great outdoors while having civilization to come back to were great. The Chalet was very clean and the deck was very private.
Added bonus the Wine berries were fantastic.
Our stay at the mountain chalet was wonderful! The house was exceptionally clean and comfortable, and in such a beautiful forest location. It even has a yard where you can play horseshoes! While we didn't get to meet Brenda in person, she was very easy to communicate with, and she clearly cares a lot about making the cabin as welcoming as possible. We were greeted with a basket of yummy snacks when we first arrived, which was a very nice treat. I would definitely recommend the mountain chalet to anyone looking for a great place to relax and unwind.
Great place for a relaxing weekend away from DC. thanks so much
The Shenandoah Chalet was great. Brenda was incredibly helpful and the house was nice, clean, and had everything we needed. The porch and yard space were very lovely, and the house had easy access to local vineyards, restaurants, and our favorite, the Apple House!
We had an excellent weekend getaway. The chalet is well located--just secluded enough, with easy access to Shenandoah National Park--and charming. Brenda was a superlative host: she gave great advice on alternate routes (traffic and weather wreaked a bit of havoc on our drive), ensured a clean space with a few treats scattered around, and was flexible with arrival and departure times. I can't imagine a better first experience with Airbnb.
This is a repeat visit from a guest I've hosted before. Everything went smoothly just like the first time. Hope to have ya'll back.
Brenda and her husband were easy to talk to and everything went well. They cleaned up after themselves and left everything where we could easily finish cleaning and prepping for the next guests.
