My wife and I felt immediately at home in Lois' Charleston Cottage. Located in a "happening," but quiet, part of this beautiful city, it had all that we needed…and more. The downstairs (living, dining, kitchen and bathroom rooms) were well organized, immaculate and comfortable. The upstairs gabled bedroom was just right for the two of us. The neighborhood was safe, quiet at night and gave access to Charleston's center within 15 minutes walk…or access to the free trams just up the street a bit. We ate at two restaurants within 1.5 short blocks, and both were excellent…and reasonable. Parking at the cottage was well off street (which appears to be the "norm" for this neighborhood)…thus giving us a further feeling of security for our "ride!" Our only lament - we had only two days to be there!!! Next time - a week!!
Thank you, Lois, for providing a neat place in a wonderful, historic city. We'll be back!!
We had a great 3 nights spent on this beautifully restored apartment. The beds were great, so comfortable, and Lois was a great host. She was very responsive to any needs we had and had great recommendations for us. We would highly recommend this apartment, good location, generally quiet, 1/2 mile walk to King st.
Nicely furnished flat in an up and coming vibrant mixed neighbourhood with loads of places to eat and drink nearby. A fair walk from the main tourist centre but good bus service virtually outside (incl. one free shuttle!). Free parking space is a great help. Only downside: traffic outside heavy at times for the front bedroom, but there is another bedroom at the back for light sleepers. Flat itself is tastefully furnished, well appointed, spotlessly clean. Owner is very helpful, quick to respond, gave great directions and even dropped by personally to check on us. This makes for a great base for anyone looking for an alternative experience of Charleston - a wonderful city.
This apartment, in one of the very old "single houses" of Charletown fame, was clean and comfortable; the hosts very efficient. The WiFi was excellent, and that's always appreciated. The porch was a pleasant place to sit early in the morning . Parking is easy in the back of the house. The neighborhood is just beginning to gentrify, but seemed safe and we walked from the house to the tourist district. The photos, though accurate, make it look a bit more upscale than it is. Hominy Grits restaurant a block a way is a great place for breakfast and, we discovered, very very popular on a weekend day. It opens at 9. Get there early!
Clean and comfortable spot that feels historic and unique! Funky little neighborhood, walkable to downtown Charleston. A neat spot to be your home base while visiting - we would definitely return!
The cottage was adorable and perfect for our 4 night stay in Charleston! It was very clean and we felt right at home. Lois was very welcoming and left a lot of Charleston reading information to give us some ideas of what to do while we were on our trip!
A comfortable, clean and charming two bedroom apartment. Nice bathroom and a kitchen with all the needed amenities.
This was my first experience with Airbnb so naturally I was a little skeptical. The cottage matched the description and was just as clean, and cozy as we'd hoped. It was nice to stay in a place that had the same historic feel and southern sensibility as the city we came to visit.
While we didn't have much interaction with Lois, we still felt welcome. There was a book of house rules and a guide to the city so that we were prepared for all of our touristy activities. Lois was responsive when we had questions and accommodated our needs when we needed to adjust our schedule slightly.
We had a wonderful stay! Great location, beautiful house, lots of resources for tourists, a hand written welcome note, clear check in/out instructions, ample parking, walking distance from King St. We definitely recommend it.
The place was cute and charming. It's a little bit of a hike to all of the bars and restaurants on King and Meeting and the waterfront. You might want to plan on renting some bikes are checking out the day pass or 3 day pass on the trolley. The layout is a little strange, but after all we were mostly out eating and drinking so in the end it really didn't matter.
