Often in the role of Papa Bob, I recently moved from up north to my daughter's area in Vista, CA, North County San Diego, to be near my twin grandsons. I live off-property and travel throughout the Golden State. It has led to a career as a journalist, photographer and publisher while staying at many great accommodations.
Sitting atop Napa Valley, Hilltop Cottage is a perfect getaway choice located in Calistoga. I've personally toured the area's recreational possibilities, hot springs and accommodations as far back as 1973, and I've always enjoyed the rustic home setting on 36 acres where the cottage is located. The cute cottage has a private driveway up the hilltop above the historic summerhouse lodge that was built in the 1960s. It is the family home left after a terrible fire consumed the Tubbs historic home, and leaving below only Chateau Montelena and Jade Lake still original to the 1880s. Come and enjoy our main lodge property and garden views with many amenities available to compliment our guests at the cottage.
My personal journey moving to southern California has made Hilltop Cottage available to share with those interested in a great location on Napa Valley's edge. It's a 3-minute drive from downtown Calistoga on Lake County Highway, and itself at a crossroads on the way to Sonoma Valley and Alexander Valley. Ask me questions about traveling here if you decide you're are ready to visit.
I've spent over 20 years as a media photographer attending many California events including the Monterey Jazz Festival, wine festivals and recreational venues. I've authored recent print editions released by Arcadia Publishing, and they can be found on Amazon. It's a 5-volume series of photography books featuring the history of California's Spanish Missions and story of El Camino Real. Check my photographic journal projects "California Tour & Travel," "Calistoga's Camelot," and "Hillcrest Country Inn" on the web.
