If u r looking for a beautiful place just a couple of minutes away from Kandy and you have a eye for the beauty of nature and a heart for animals, then this place is a real paradise.
The owner is a sympatic woman in her best ages and she helped us a lot planing our trip and our time in Kandy. We were able to meet her daughter and for a small talk also her son (thanks shamil, bus rides are definetly an adventure in sri lanka ;) ). In the morning we could enjoy sri lankan specialities like hoppers, rotti and fresh fruits. All together we had a great time in a wonderful house.
A special thanks goes to her tuktuk driver who was a sympatic and fair guy!

Thanks for the great review, Next we will have curry for you. FYI you could have asked my mom and she would have made some for you. Safe travels....:-)
Our family of four (two kids of 3 years and 10 months old) had been travelling for already one month in Sri Lanka or half of our full trip here. We were looking for a place a little bit outside of Kandy so that we could enjoy some quietness after a busy day.
We have mostly used Airbnb to find our accommodations and I must admit that we were the most disappointed here.
First of all, we we're told that the room had two king size beds and found that there were actually single sized. We thus asked for an extra mattress on the floor for our son and were given a dirty mattress with a towel as cover sheet.
We even received an email saying that we wre going to be charged for it and were accused of lying about our children's ages.
We found the house very dirty, full of dogs hair and the cutlery used for the breakfast morning not clean either.
On top of it, we found very creepy to come back to the house on a late afternoon to find Chitra sitting alone in the dark...not a kids friendly welcome in our opinion.
Definitely not a children's friendly place!!!
We have spent one night at Chitra's home and we really enjoyed it! Chitra is a very nice host, so kind and with a perfect English! We arrived late in the evening and she prepared us an amazing dinner. It was for sure the best typical food we have ever eaten in Sri Lanka! The house is big and the bathroom very clean. We had a warm welcome with a fresh fruit juice made with the fruits from her garden. We would have loved spending more time in her house.
We had a great 3 night stay with Chitra in her lovely home. The room and bathroom were both large and very clean. Chitra is very accommodating and the tuk tuk driver that she uses is great. The highlight was her cooking and we were in Sri Lanka for 6 weeks and it was the best food we had the entire trip. We can highly recommend staying at the Peace Haven!
quiet and nice place to stay, the landlord lady had been very helpful. the lady prepared the traditional sri lanka meals and the tuk tuk driver was very kind and funny to show us the city.
I highly recommend guests to stay with Mrs Chitra Ranasinghe! I was warmly welcomed by Chitra on arrival (along with a glass of fresh juice from the fruit in her garden) and her kind and considerate hospitality was evident during my entire stay. Chitra offers great conversation, a wonderful room, a private palatial (!) bathroom and home cooked food that is lovingly prepared if you want it. Chitra respects guests' privacy but is also readily available if you need her. I feel very fortunate to have shared the New Year period with Chitra. This was a wonderful opportunity to be invited into a stranger's home, have the chance to learn about Sri Lankan culture, and then leave as a friend. Preparing my stay via Chitra's son, Shamil, was made easy with prompt and detailed communication. I strongly encourage Airbnb guests to stay with Chitra as you explore beautiful Kandy. As well as seeing the sights this is a great opportunity to take time to spend at home in the company of wonderful local woman also. You'll feel like you've been hanging out with your favourite aunty. Thank you Chitra for a most wonderful stay. It was a delight to begin the Sri Lankan New Year in your company!
The sign "peace haven" which is attached next to the door of the beautiful house describes perfectly the way you feel at this amazing place. Shamils mother was a kind host and can tell you everything you need to know about the people, the nature and the City. We want to come back.
Our stay at Peace Heaven was nothing short of fantastic! Mrs Chitra lives in a lovely, spacious home with a beautiful garden. We knew that our stay was going to be special when she mentioned that she had saved us some rambutans from her garden. At dinner, we were spoiled by her many delicious curries and sambols! It was hands down the best meal we had in Sri Lanka. Mrs. Chitra treated us like family the moment we walked through her front door, sat down with us during our meals for lovely conversations and Sri Lanka travel advice. The room and washroom was luxuriously spacious and clean, and her home was a refreshing change from the bustling city centre. We highly recommend staying here!
We have stayed with Shamil mom for two nights. Its really nice place. Homely atmosphere and grat Sri Lanka breakfast. Great value for money. Our tuk tuk driver ( organized by Shamil mom) was very nice guy - thank you for having us for two days! I would recommend this place.
I am a German Lady of 63 travelling on my own in Sri Lanka and I found a wonderful place at "Peace Haven" to spend a great time in Kandy. Madame was helpful and discret in one and offered a most delicious homemade food. From the very first moment of my arrival I felt like at home in the house with my big bedroom and bath and in the beautiful and well cared garden. I came as a stranger and left as a friend. Thank you so much, Madame!

Thank you so much for the great review. I will let my mom know. Your welcome to come and stay with us again anytime. Warm rgds - Shamil
I have known Shamil from University of Wisconsin. Shamil is a good family man living in Minnesota and has property in Sri Lanka as well. His hometown is located in the hill city of Kandy where he grew up hence he could give some good tips about getting around in that area. I would like to recommend Shamil to any airbnb guests and I'm sure he will make your stay very comfortable.
A wonderful place to stay in Kandy.Shamil is a very kind host, with great communication throughout and fantastic tips for places to go. He picked us up from the airport and once we arrived at the Homestay we were greated with delicious tea. The location is good as it's in the hills that rise around Kandy so it's very peaceful. It's a cheap and quick tuk tuk ride into the town, so it's not difficult to experience bustling Kandy whenever you want. The apartment is great as you have the whole place to yourself - bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen and a lovely garden to relax on. It's simple but catered for all our needs. And spotlessly clean as well. We had complete privacy but yet we felt very looked after by Shamil - Thanks Shamil....
