I'm a mature female. I thought I would be traveling to the area with a friend but may be traveling alone.
Christy was an amazing host. She was very sweet and kind and really made the extra effort to provide a great experience in her home. Her place is quiet, clean, and cozy. Her dog Midas and cat Shadow were very well behaved. Her food was excellent and healthy. It is definitely worth the extra money to have her cook meals because she is a very amazing cook. We would stay there again and would recommend her place to anyone.
Everything about this stay felt lucky. Christy's house is lovely as is her little town of Alton which is right on the Mississippi River but an easy drive to St. Louis. My room was attractive and peaceful with a very comfortable bed and plush bedding. Christy offers a meal on her airbnb ad, so I requested something simple after a day of traveling. A beautiful healthy spread was waiting for me that I was so grateful to get. Christy is fun to talk to, an artist and very creative. I wholeheartedly recommend a stay at her cheerful cottage and garden.
Christy was an excellent and generous host. She was happy to spend time talking to me and recommending sites to visit and activities. She was also more than generous with her own time and food for my stay, which was particularly appreciated given the relatively remote location.
The room was modern, spacious, and comfortable. Christy's pets are quiet, well behaved, and friendly.
Excellent host, would recommmend.
A truly lovely lady. She treated me like a good friend. I'm only sorry my stay was just for one night. The location is ideal if you want to extend your stay in St. Louis to the Illinois side for visits to such sites as Cahokia Mounds World Heritage Site, Lewis & Clark St. Park, and others. A little less convenient for sites in St. Louis itself, but if you don't mind the half hour or so drive, you might find it the perfect wind-down location. Christy herself is a gem who may make the drive worth your while.
After picking up my partner at the airport, we only had a lovely little drive(enough time to start reconnecting, but not a long way), and when we got there, we had a wonderful room to drop down in and rest for the night.
Christy had a few snacks out for us that night, and served a very full and yummy breakfast.
