I am a Norwegian guy who lives partly in the archipelago municipality Hvaler and partly in Oslo where I currently attend the University of Oslo's graduate program in social anthropology.
I consider myself to be a social person who enjoys meeting new people and make new experiences. A café visit, a concert, perhaps a home party or a scuba-diving holiday would all be activities of interest to me. I have lived and studied in Reykjavík in Iceland and in Lund in Sweden, and apart from Norwegian I speak English and Swedish fluidly, and have basic knowledge of Icelandic. I recognise the apparent futility of learning a couple these things, but with them came the insight that even what seems most pointless may turn out to be a source to knowledge that may one day come in handy, or, even better, simply allows you to be appreciative of differences and complexity.
I am in general a tidy (some would say pedantic) person and always try to do my best to maintain high standards when being a guest. I have never understood why people treat hotel rooms as their personal playground or dumpster - it is never okay to let other people clean up your mess even though "it's their job" and "I'm paying for it." My friends sometimes call me naive, but I try to orient myself toward the extended social universe with openness and good faith. This means that I attempt to be honest about who I am and what I believe in, but also that I try to respect others; their situations and choices in life.
