I live in Chiang Rai, Thailand. I love my hometown very much. I like the slowly life here and always enjoy traveling.
What a wonderful place !! an architecture based on woody thai style - We were in a traditionnal thai room, magnifique, and well furnished. Puangpaka is so kind and she took care of us mainly in the morning advising us on how to proceed to discover the Gold triangle via commun transportation means (TUK TUK and Buses). The break fast was included &and available booth in international or Thai style !!
It was great !! thanks Puangpaka and sure we will be back - best regards - Patricia and Jean - Claude
The venue was exactly as described. Great location, easy walk into town, and very nice room. I was absolutely stay here again! Thanks.
The location is in the middle of the city and not so far from night market. The room is as shown in the picture and we had a good stay there. However, breakfast is very limited with only some dumping and toast. And the place is next to the main road so it's a but noisy sometimes. Apart from that, it worth the price.
This place was perfect for us! The room and bathroom were really nice and there is a small breakfast included :) especially the host was amazing! She was always there to help us when we had a problem! So we can highly recommend this guest house :)
We found this guesthouse to be incredibly quaint and personal. It is a bit far from the town center, but they can arrange for a motorbike rental and once you have that, it just takes 5 minutes along the main road to reach the night market, etc. Despite it's proximity to the main road, the guesthouse was very quiet and peaceful, strong WiFi and AC as well. For the price, it was absolutely worth it and I would stay here again. Keep in mind, the front desk staff speaks little to no english, which was challenging at times ((SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) translate on the phone helped) but they were super sweet and pleasant, very agreeable, so it almost didn't matter. If you want a local vibe, this place is perfect--it's in a very un-touristy area of town with local food and atmosphere.
Huenchandee is a very comfortable hotel and for us turned out to be a great place to stay. The bed was large and comfortable, the sheets were clean and the position was excellent. There's a large American-style shopping mall about 10 minutes away by foot and a few good restaurants in the nearby area, a notable one was around the corner called "18 June." It's an area that you won't bump into any tourists except at the mall.
Breakfast was simple, consisting of tea/coffee with toast and jam and bananas, but for us it was perfect.
The only negative is that it was the only place we stayed at that had mosquitoes inside of the room. Closing the bathroom door seemed to help, but there were always a couple buzzing around our heads.
If you're in Chiang Rai it's a great choice for a place to sleep. It's cheap, comfortable, clean and the A/C works great. We couldn't have asked for more.
The room was really nice with a big comfy bed. A great shower, one of the best we've had in Thailand. However, other than that I wouldn't stay here again for many reasons. One - I wont go back to Chiang Rai again, it was a very sleepy town and hardly anyone speaks english and pretty much nothing to do. So unless you have friends or family I wouldn't bother. Two - there were a million mosquitos in our room when we first arrived and we got a ton of bites. Luckily I told them at reception and they gave me some spray for the room which quickly got rid of them. Three - the location was not great, too far from town to be able to walk and there was not much around other than a 7 eleven. I think this place was overpriced for what you actually get.
Puangpaka was a lovely host! She went above and beyond to make my girlfriend and I feel right at home. For example--we didn't arrive until 10:00 PM on our first night, and we were very hungry. It was too late to rent a motorbike, however, so Puangpaka gave us her own personal bike to use for the night!
The room itself was clean and cozy. Comfortable bed, clean sheets and towels, warm water, etc. Chiang Rai is an incredible city--we definitely recommend visiting and, when you do, stay with Puangpaka at Huenchandee!
we had a day and a half visit in Chiangrai and huenchandee made our stay very pleasant. The staff was very helpful. Clean, air conditioned room. It's walking distance to the night market. It was a bit difficult to find (it's on a smaller street corner off the Main Street) so I suggest you contact the host beforehand so to tell the driver exactly where you would like to be dropped off. Thanks huenchandee!
