I can't speak highly enough of my stay in David’s room.
I didn't meet him personally because he was away throughout my stay but he did his best to ensure that everything would go smoothly while he was gone. His (website hidden) were delightful and went out of their way to make me feel at home. I was staying there while I looked for an apartment of my own and they even helped me move into my new apartment at the end of the week!
As for the accommodation: It was easily better than the four star hotel I had been staying at earlier in the week (and cost considerably less). My room was large, clean and tidy and had a very comfortable double bed. The duvet and pillows were new and David had thoughtfully cleared a wardrobe and large chest of draws so that I would have plenty of room for my things. I had a spotlessly clean modern bathroom to myself with a good power shower.
The house is within walking distance of the centre of Dublin though you can take the Luas if you prefer. If you would like to stay closer to home, the house is only a few minutes’ walk from the centre of Ranelagh which has several great restaurants. If you prefer cooking for yourself there is a good supermarket and a specialist butchers.
The kitchen is part of the large communal room which also contains a dining table, couches and a TV. You will be sharing the stove with 3 other people so you potentially have to coordinate cooking times – but I had no trouble getting access to the stove and oven whenever I wanted to.
The house is next to the Luas line which I thought would be noisy but it didn’t disturb me at all… and my family would tell you that I am quite fussy about such things.
The information said that the room was suitable for a smoker – so as a non-smoker I was concerned that the room might smell of stale smoke. However, it is clear that David very rarely smokes in there.
Finally: Despite all the complimentary things I have said about the accommodation and facilities, the highlight of my stay was meeting three charming and hospitable people.
I would wholeheartedly recommend David's room to anyone.
