The Acorn was absolutely wonderful! As mentioned by other guests, fresh bread, butter, and jam were left for us, and delicious. The cottage is cozy, the fire keeps the whole place nice and warm, and the kitchen is well stocked for cooking. If you're looking to explore Dingle or any of the surrounding areas, definitely stay here! Thanks very much Ailbhe and Michael for a wonderful stay!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Acorn; a great hideaway close to the sea and away from the hustle and bustle. Michael was really helpful prior to and throughout the duration of our stay. We were greeted with some warm bread, butter and jam, and half a dozen eggs, and helpful introductory notes which helped orientate ourselves. Michael left us to our own devices and gave us plenty of privacy, but made himself available when we needed advice. The house was a little on the chilly side initially but once we had the stove cranking and the heating on we were warm and cozy. We enjoyed feeding and watching the birds in the garden, and using the well equipped kitchen to make our own meals. Highly recommended!
We had a wonderful time at The Acorn. Michael & Ailbhe are brilliant, accommodating, and very friendly hosts. They went to extra lengths to provide toys for my 3 year old and even some wellie's. The Acorn is in a beautiful area with loads to keep you busy in and around Dingle peninsula.
Ailbhe & Michael were great and lovely hosts! The house was tidy and warm and welcome (fire in the stove+wonderful fresh bread) - We had a great stay at the Acorn, even if it sometimes was windy and rainy! :) totally would recommend Ailbhe & Michael's place for a stay!
Everything was fine! The house was clean, the fireplace very nice, the shower hot and that there was everything there for breakfast was a really nice extra (especially the home made bread and marmalade!). Thank you!
In short, our stay was wonderful and we would recommend staying at the Acorn.
We stayed for 2 nights in February. The listing description is very accurate. The space is roomy for 2 people, the bed is comfy, the record player is a fun touch, and the remoteness was refreshing. The charm of this place is off the charts!
Just as it says in the description, this is not a perfectly climate controlled hotel. We were there in the winter and had some moments of being cold. Personally, we liked the cozy feeling of the wood burning stove and the satisfaction of lighting the fire ourselves. It is a charm vs. comfort trade off and you should make the decision for yourself.
Ailbhe and Michael are very friendly although we did not see them very often since we were away most of the time. They are helpful when you ask for information but definitely try to give you lots of privacy.
I wouldn't hesitate to come back.
Michael and Ailbhe are extremely generous and kind hosts. The cottage is an absolute gem! It's in a stunning location and is tastefully decorated plus has a record player with a great record collection. Fresh bread on arrival was a real treat. Highly recomended.
Fantastic weekend at Michael and Ailbhe's cottage. Great welcome, with the stove lit and an emergency meal just in case! Perfect location for exploring the surrounding beaches, Dingle and more, with plenty of recommendations from Michael. Ideal for a romantic break, we'll be back again!
Had a fantastic time at The Acorn. Loved the remoteness of the house, but also its closeness to the local beach (5 min walk) and other amenities. The location is ideal for those who either want a quiet stress free break from life’s hustle & bustle or for those who love to explore the Dingle Peninsula. The accommodation is very welcoming with an array of books, records (& record player) and DVD's to enjoy. Ailbhe & Michael were very kind and left a fresh loaf of homemade brown bread, butter, jam & milk in the house for my arrival. Must not forget the stove that kept me company on the wild nights. Do not overlook this house. It’s a gem!!!!!
Keith! What a lovely review. Hopefully we'll see you again soon.
Ailbhe and Michael were the perfect hosts. They were very helpful with directions and had lovely home made bread waiting for us on our arrival. Michael was always on hand to offer any suggestions as to what to see and do in Kerry. I would love to come back in the summer as the weather was not great and therefore we did not get to see all the sights as orginally planned. I would recommend The Acorn to anyone wishing to explore the Dingle Peninsula.
Michael came just for one night but he seem to be someone very sympathetic, friendly and easy going. He is also a host so he nows how the expérience airbnb works. Don t hesitate to host him!
Thanks Matthieu! Nice meeting you, and thanks for the hospitality.
Ailbhe and Michael were great guest, prompt with replies to questions and when they would arrive. I wasnt there to let them in as a neighbour did on my behalf,I met them the following morning at breakfast. They were a pleasure to meet full of complements and praise. I would have to hesitation in recomending them to any airbnb host as they themselves are hosts. truly a pleasure to meet adn i wish them the best in the future. Thanks guys truly great guests and people.:-))))))))))))))))
