This place is awesome! I was a little concerned when looking at the map that it might be a little far, but it turned out to be super-easy to get to from Kyoto Station. The number 5 bus is basically door to door from the station to the apartment! And while it's a little confusing getting the bus for the first time in Japan, the instructions linked in the room's profile made it very easy. The public kitchen space is excellent - I was sad not to use it more... The rooms are comfortable and clean. The area is fantastic for sightseers! The philosophers path is beautiful at this time of year. I will probably come back to the same place next time I visit Kyoto !
Very well located flat for exploring Kyoto. Basic, but all that you need. Liam's communication was very good.
The flat was generally clean but not professionally cleaned. Recommended for a short stay.
My boyfriend and I had an excellent experience here. We both enjoy the stay here very much, which make us feel like home. :)
Liam is very helpful. With the detailed guideline he gave us before arrival, we arrive the apartment easily even after the late flight at night. Also, he is considerate enough to allow us having special luggage arrangement on the check-out date, due to our flight schedule.
The apartment is extremely clean and well equipped, which is exactly the same as the photo and the description on airbnb. It is also very spacious for us, 2 people with 3 luggage. The most impressed us is the high-technological bathroom, like the TV and hi-fi system, which allow us to relax ourselves after the exhausted scheduled everyday. Also, the drying system is really well-functioned, which is especially important for drying our wet clothes quickly after the heavy rainy days.
Surely, the portable wifi is very fast and convenient for us during the whole journey. However, the battery seems not enough to turn on for the whole day. Hence, to save the battery, we recommend turning on the wifi ONLY when necessary usage is needed..
The location is also excellent, with the convenient access to rail station and 24hr convenient store. The environment around is serene and safe for us where we can totally recharge ourselves after the good sleeping without noise disturbance. It is very close to Kiyomizu-dera which allow us to have a casual walk around there at the morning of department.
To sum up, it is a very lovely apartment which is highly recommended to everyone, 2-3 people, who are like to have a convenient and quiet living place to relax and sightseeing around.
We will exactly be back to this "home' again when we revisit Kyoto. :) Thank you Liam for giving us such an enjoyable time here.
The apartment looks exactly like in the photos. It was very clean and comfortable and everything worked well. There were also some interesting gadgets in the bathroom, which was fun to explore. The size was just right for 3 of us and we had a good stay.
The location is very convenient for sightseeing in kyoto. A short walking distance to 2 subway stations on different lines and there are convenience stores and 24h dining places around the area. There was also a bicycle rental place nearby.
Communication with the host, Liam, was great. He was very helpful and friendly. Directions and check-in instructions were also very clear and was sent 2 weeks prior to my check-in date. We had no problems locating the apartment and checking in and out.
Overall, it was a really good stay and i highly recommend booking with Liam. Would love to stay again. :)
Instructions were very detailed and the place was in an excellent location. Do not let the photos fool you as it is a very nice and modern apartment.
I will be giving a fair and honest review for our stay in Liam's Place in Kyoto. Me and my husband are on holiday trip in Kyoto during the Cherry Blossom Season, which majority of us know that is a very busy season. Sadly we had a Very bad experience during our first night in Kyoto. The previous guest forgot to return the key and brought it with them. After doing some sightseeing and returned to Kyoto Station for our luggages. I just decided to check my mail to my horror I received a mail from Liam saying that the apartment is not available for the night and we cannot check-in. At 10pm we don't have a place to stay...as all the Hotels are all fully booked.
Airbnb Support calls me and tried to find a Hotel for us. They managed to reserve one but when we go to the Hotel they said that the last room has already been taken and there's no more room available. At 12midnight we are looking for a place to stay!!! No call from Liam nor the Airbnb we just look around the area to find a hotel! The only hotel that has an available room is Hotel Granvia Kyoto...we checked-in using our own credit card and Airbnb will just reimburse after. Thats the worst thing that will ever happen to a traveller like us.
Both Airbnb & Liam are apologetic for what happened. Airbnb support constantly checking on us if ever we already have a place to stay. Maybe it was pure bad luck and was trying our hardest to understand the situation.
If were not about our misadventure and bad luck, I would give Liam's Place a very good review. The place is nice & clean and more than big enough for 2 persons. The place is just a good 3 mins. walk to subway which is so accessible to almost every where. I like everything about the place, specially the lobby and the room itself...well except for the futon. I will recommend the place as it is in a very nice location.
Hopefully you can also learn from our experience. Please be mindful of host's rules and PLEASE DO NOT EVER FORGET TO RETURN THE KEY AND POCKET WIFI so you will not compromise the next guests and have their worst travel nightmare. If Liam handle's the situation differently...like helping us look for a hotel instal of just using Airbnb support...I know that me and my husband will unsterdand.
The apartment is more than big. You can divide it by sliding doors separating couch/table area from the bed area. The toilet is equipped with spaceship and nanotechnologies. You will be surprised and pleased.
Bathroom has got 2 very useful functions:
1. Dryer. Once you wash your clothes you can hang out all of them in the bathroom, close the door and switch on the dryer. In 3 hours all your clothes will be 100% dry!
2. Music broadcasting system. If you wish to take the shower listening to your favorite songs or radio or whatever, there's a cord outside the bathroom (right below the Dryer button). You can connect your phone, tab, pad etc. using 3.5" jack and play your music right into the bathroom.
Internet is available in 2 ways. The Pocket WiFi that you can take with you anywhere in Japan. And the apartment WiFi (the router device is located under the couch).
The place is not so close to Kyoto station (15-20 min. walk) but we walked every time we needed to take the train. For those who don't like to walk there's a train station across the river nearby. And the apartment is very close to Gion, Kyomizudera and Nishiki Food Market.
If you walk west the Gojo Dori road you will find wonderful Fresco Supermarket (24h). After 8:00 PM they start discounting raw fish and other fresh goods.
If we had questions Liam answered us not immediately but surely.
All declared facilities are available and working!
P.S. For smokers: you will find the great collection of lighters at the balcony. "Join us"!
We were in the appartement in march 2015 and it was perfect for us. It was really clean. Also the instructions from Liam were very clear and we had no problem to find it when we arrived from Kyoto Station.
We really appreciate the location, it was close to most of the thing we visit. (There is also a bus stop is across the street). I recommand this place.
Liam's house was perfect for our trip to Kyoto. It's near to the most common places, and you have access to everything. The house was clean (and yes, modern!) and it was enough space for 3 people. I also have to say that the photos you can see are not as good as the apartment itself. You'd better try this house for yourself!
Liam was close to us and fast when talking via airbnb messages, that gave us security. He also gave us good indications to find the house.
Liam was just passing thru and he needs to stay near the airport. I had him transferred to my nearer accommodation unit for his convenience. Traffic in the city can be very frustrating at times when you can't reach your destination on time.
