A fabulous host and a fabulous place to stay. Maartje greeted me with a big smile, good coffee and gave me all I needed to know for my stay (and had left some beers, a lovely bottle of wine and some cheese). The apartment is clean, light, airy and quiet, and in a location that suited me perfectly. A few minutes walk to the bus and trams which get you all over Amsterdam in no time, and if you like to walk (as I do) there is plenty to see, with some lovely parks located only minutes away. I'll definitely be back.
As soon as I walked down the path I knew I was going to have a fantastic stay. Maartje greeted me with a lovely apartment, a bike, lovely food & drink treats and a big smile.
The apartment was very clean and had everything in it I could possibly need.
Maartje then showed me around and proceeded to tell me where to go and what to do and throughout my stay checked to see if I was okay.
When I had difficulties with my car, Maartje was instantly on hand to help.
The neighbourhood is a perfect combination of being close to the buzz and activity of Amsterdam but far enough away at night for it to be quiet and peaceful. The neighbours are very friendly and helpful, I instantly felt at home.
I loved sitting in the cute little garden in the evenings, the whole apartment was very relaxing and airy. It was lovely to sit a Maartje's desk working with the sun beaming in and people walking past saying hello.
There are two supermarkets and plenty of places to eat near to the apartment.
I didn't use public transport this time but there was a tram stop round the corner.
If you come to Amsterdam get a bike!. It all adds to the experience, is fun and keeps you fit. It is 15 minute cycle in a straight line (if that) to Damrak and 15 minutes cycle to Vondelpark/Museums. In fact you are never that far away from anything.
I would definitely recommend staying here to anybody visiting the city.
Great space to stay in - full of light and whimsical decorations. Lots of room for two. The apartment is quiet yet very accessible to downtown Amsterdam - about 15m away from the center by tram. Martje was very helpful and kind. She had loads of suggestions and was very active in responding to questions prior to the trip and upon on arrival. She even biked back from an event on a Saturday night when I locked myself out. Thank you Maartje ! Best, Randa
Maartje is a great host, she met us at her apt and showed us everything, she was nice and warm(:
The apt was very clean and comfortable, we had all we needed and the time we spent there was great!
We had a wonderful stay in Maartje's apartment while we were visiting Amsterdam. She was very inviting and had lots of information about activities in the city. She was even nice enough to check in on us to see if there was anything we needed during our stay. Everything was how it looked in the pictures right down to the little dinosaurs at the end if the hall ;) There was plenty of space for the myself and my boyfriend. In fact it was a bit more spacious than we were expecting. We also liked that the area was quiet with nice parks nearby but that we could walk to the major canals in about 25 minutes, not that we always had to because the apartment was very close to the tram. We would definitely stay there again!
We had a great stay in Maartje's clean spacious apartment. It is slightly away from the centre but is an easy walk to the Jordaan then on to the central city, and there are plenty of accessible trams and buses.
Maartje was very friendly and helpful in all communications. She met us at the apartment where she gave a really thorough and helpful tour of the apartment and information and recommendations for the city.
Everything was perfect except for the weather. Highly recommended!
We had a fantastic time in Amsterdam- and the flat was a big part of that. We instantly felt at home, the bed was really comfy and the kitchen was perfect for cooking at the flat a few nights.
Maartje met us at the apartment when we arrived, gave us a cold Heineken (which went down very well!) and talked us through parts of the flat, wifi etc. We also asked her recommendation for a nearby restaurant and she directed us towards to Cafe Cook (website hidden) which was fantastic (great steak, lots of different beers on tap, laid-back/ intimate atmosphere).
She also recommended a brewery tour (rather than Heienken- "tourist trap) at this lovely place: (website hidden)
If you like beer (or even if you don't) then definitely go! It was a lovely, informative tour with delicious beer.
If you are there for more than a couple of days then we'd recommend a day in Delft; a beautiful town that you can do in a day. Visit the Nieuwe Kerk and go up the clock tower for a fantastic view of the city. We went to this fabulous restaurant:
(website hidden) which was modern, delicious Italian, in very generous portions. Friendly & attentive staff and not too pricey either. The train from Amsterdam Centraal takes about an hour and costs around €25- totally worth it!
Maartje also recommended hiring bikes & cycling to the North (which you can get to via a free ferry from behind the Centraal station). We cycled to the picturesque village of Durgerdam.
Overall the flat was fairly well situated (20/30min walk to the nice area of Jordaan), really comfortable, good facilities and was very easy to instantly relax in.
Amsterdam is a great city, don't be put off by reports of the "alternative" areas of the city. The food is great if you avoid the tourist areas, and the beer isn't just Heineken, Amstel & Grolsch!
It's sunny, really charming, very nice flat center in Amsterdam. It's easy to reach in the center of Amsterdam.
Maartje is the best host. She helped us for everything we need.
We really happy to meet with her and stay in this lovely flat.
Maartje's apartment is super clean and well decorated with simple but beautiful plants and furnitures, which create a very relaxed and fresh environment. I especially like the colours in the living room that I guess Maartje has carefully selected and designed from a visual art perspective. Additionally the kitchen is fully equipped and clean which made me really feel like home.
I hope I could come back again and would recommend her apartment to everyone!
I had an excellent stay at Maartje's apartment--it was clean and spacious, and very comfortable. The location is good--a quiet neighborhood with convenient access to public transit. It was very easy to get to the museums and other sites around Amsterdam.
Maartje was a great host, and provided many good recommendations of things to do or see while I was in Amsterdam. I didn't have any problems with anything at the apartment, but I felt sure that if anything needed attention I could contact easily her and would get a quick response.
I highly recommend this apartment.
