Howdy, howdy, my name is Steve!

I'm a laid back guy from the East Coast of the U-S-A. In my business hours I'm a mild manner Art Director for a tech pub and website. Oh, you can also check out my personal design/illustration (EMAIL HIDDEN)

In my off hours, I try to get to the beach as often as I can throughout the year.

I like exploring for sand dollars (I've found seven this year so far), making/destroying sandcastles with my son and trying to log some time in the water, surfing the fickles waves of New England.

I love traveling, although I have slowed down since becoming a dad, but it hasn't stopped me completely! I don't think having a family should limit your ability to travel. I've had some great travels around the world as a backpacker and waiting to see where the next phase of my life takes me. Some of my favorite places to travel are SE Asia. Especially Indonesia, with it's many cultures and amazing beaches and volcanoes. Also the many varieties of Indo coffee. And I just love the many exotic fruits from Indo, especially Durian!

My usual mode and style of travel is to mix with the locals and finding the best deals to keep traveling. So far, my best deal for accommodation has been in Sumatra for $1.50 a night (with hot water!).

If i'm your guest, I'm very quiet...don't smoke at all (although if you had a clove cigarette lit, I wouldn't mind the second hand smoke). I'm also very respectful of the hosts space and graciousness.

My favorite restaurant: Dapur Babah in Jakarta. Traditional chinese/javanese food in a really interesting old colonial building filled with asian antiques.

I also love yoga, which is a great (conditioning) complement to surfing and the hectic world we live in. I appreciate a vigorously Vinyasa flow but also the meditative aspect of focusing on the breath. And yoga takes me within and arguably a lot farther than any world travel can! Ok, that is what I tell myself when I'm stuck in the house for the weekend. :)

Some of my favorite movies/shows are American Beauty, Twin Peaks, Touching the Void, Rumblefish and just about any documentry or Miyazaki anime. And I can get stuck watching all those "Reality" shows...Pawn Stars, Pickers, Hoarders or any home make over show.

Some of the music I dig....Pixies, The Orb, Miles Davis, Air, The Beatles, Happy Monday (or pretty much any happy shiny Brit Pop band), The Fathoms (or any good surf music). I also really dig ambient music, great to grooving out to at work. The "Mountain Chill" streaming station out in Colorado is amazing.

I love just about any food...from the local Indonesian warungs to drive through cappucino stands in Oregon.

Some things I don't love, taking my son for a haircut, conservative talk radio and when my wife makes fried tripe.

If I never had to wear shoes for the rest of my life, I would be perfectly happy.

That's all for now, over and out...
