I'm an aborist working and living in Toronto - I enjoy travel, good food and beeches!
It was a bit difficult to find the house in the little town of Vissec. But that is just because it is such a pittoresque little town, with a lot of corners and stairways. Once we had found the door and entered the house.....everything was perfect...enough room for 4 adults and 3 kids...enough wood to burn the 2 fireplaces (it was februari)...and a bottle of wine and some nice flowers on the table!
The garden is on the sunny side of the house directly next to the dry river of Vissec, with a nice view on the mountains.
We had some nice walks in the area....especially to la foux...which is a beautifull place to feal the power of nature!
We had a very nice stay and George was really quick and honnest in his communication....
So i can and will recomend this place to anybody!
Nous avons passé une super semaine chez les Squire, le village de Vissec nous a très bien accueilli, on s'est senti à la maison ! La région est magnifique, il y a plein d'endroits à découvrir. Bref, vacances au top !
The contact with George was warm and efficient. We received very useful information on the house, places of interests and things to do, and were welcomed by a bottle of wine on the table upon arrival. We had no problems accessing the house, and the house was well prepared and cleaned when we got there.
The house itself was value for money. It is a cosy place, with a well equiped kitchen, all required accomodations, and sufficiently large for a comfortable stay with a family of two adults and two children. The house is situated in a calm, authentic and charming village, in beatiful surroundings, just perfect. We also enjoyed the outdoor space with two terraces and access to the garden / river bed, with lots of space to roam for our children.
We also had friendly interactions with local folks in and around the village, and met the local maire through the introduction of George. Nearby there is a sheep and a goat farm, where you can buy local cheese and dairy products.
Perhaps two downsides of the property: (1) it is an ancient house with many stairs, so perhaps suboptimal for people with reduced mobility or todlers; (2) the house, particularly the living room and bed rooms has carpets, and is not the best environment for people suffering from dust or house mite allergies.
This said, we really had a pleasant stay and would surely consider returning to this lovely place.
George was a great host. His apartment is very comfortable and stylish. I would definitely stay here again.
Great stay in Vissec. Very scenic area in a beautiful part of France. House has a lot of character. Nice to live in, great outside space too.
Yes,our host made us VERY welcome - a bottle of wine on arrival and a detailed note to explain everything - also a great generosity about sharing their own house.
The village was very beautiful and we could go for wonderful walks straight from the front door -
we wished we had booked for longer!
I had a great stay with George. The apartment itself is very nice and is in a great location, as it is right next to one of the only two stops where you can catch both the King and Queen streetcar (the two major E/W streetcars in Toronto). Super convenient if you are using transit! There are also a lot of great bars/restaurants/pubs/bakeries in the neighbourhood, so if you like to eat out or be out you're in luck. There is also a Korean grocery nearby for shopping, although if you need an actual grocery store you are in for a hike.
The building itself is new, quiet, and clean, as was George's apartment. The only mirror is in the bathroom and there isn't a dresser or desk in the bedroom (George uses milk crates stacked on their side to store clothes) but there are minor details. I should also mention that if you're coming for a longer stay and like cooking the kitchen utensils aren't very extensive (no turn-style can opener, broiling pan only for ovenware) so you might want to bring some of your own stuff. That said, what George does have is good - the appliances and furniture are very nice (laundry in unit), the bed is comfortable with hard and soft pillows to choose from, and the building has a small workout area upstairs.
George himself was also a pleasure to deal with. He was accommodating and responsive to questions, provided written tips on arrival (wifi info, things in the area, building notes, etc.) and as I was staying in his place for a month he sent msgs to see if everything was going well a couple of times. It was a pleasure doing business with him.
Overall I had a great time staying in George's place and would strongly recommend it to anyone!
George is a great host. Polite, attentive, and charming, not to mention the first certified arborist I have ever met. The apartment is a really cool little place. It's a brand new condo (just completed in 2013) with stainless steel appliances, mocha shaded wood floors and huge windows looking out to Queen Street East. That means you're right on the 24 hour streetcar line where cafes, shops, restaurants, and services abound. The building also has a gym on the penthouse floor with treadmill, elliptical, some bikes, mats, and free weights...and of course the big screens for your entertainment needs. A great stay overall!
George was a great guest to have. Very prompt with in communication and left our space extremely tidy. Barely knew anyone stayed here all weekend! Would highly recommend George as a guest to any host.
