We loved our stay here. The property is in a very secluded and beautiful place. The mountain views are very nice and reminded me of the alpine region of Victoria. The house was clean and comfortable. It was lovely to enjoy the fireplace at night. Yet it was only a short drive to town and many attractions.
We stayed at Tony and Sharon's house for the New Year, it was a stunning place, in the middle of the forest. The house is really in harmony with nature, allwing to have a very peaceful and relax stay.
We used thus house as a base to explore the tablelands and was great. More than enough room for a family of 4. Thanks for sharing your special spot
Tony gave precise directions and lots of good tips for exploring the surroundings. The place was exactly as described - basic but with everything that is needed for a quiet time away from everything. The drive up to the house provides a lovely background of what's yet to come. Take a good book and a nice bottle of wine and Bob is your uncle.
Thanks, mate. Someone else made a similar comment about a reading light in front of fire so it might be something I look at, thanks again and you're always welcome, cheers Tony
A beautiful house set in stunning scenery, it was great fun driving up the winding lane to arrive there which enhanced the feeling of tranquility and remoteness.
Tony and Sharon provided good instructions for arrival and all facilities were as described.
This property was more than we expected. Having been lucky enough to stay at many places the privacy, views and facilities on this property are immaculate. The space is elevated and has decking nearly around the entire property making a great use of views to a nearby valley.
We appreciated that there was wood left out for us, the indoor fireplace was an unexpected treat. As we were travelling up beyond Cooktown having a fridge and freezer was a godsend to keep our food cold.
Like others have said we wished we could of stayed longer. This property is a great place to unwind and relax and yet if necessary there is enough reception to get 3g and thus be online from the balcony.
What a place ! We had the best time in Yurimila.
Wonderful house, in the middle of the trees, away from the civilisation but wit hall the modern comfort. You really feel like you are in the trees as there are windows and door windows everywhere.
The living room is great, everything made out of wood, gives a real nice atmosphere. The bedroom and the bathroom are equally great. The beds and mattresses are very comfortable, we all had a great night sleep.
And in the morning, we had breakfast on the large balcony , surrounded by the forest and the birds.
And extra thumbs up to Tony who arranged to meet us at the airport in Cairns to give us a set of keys.
I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants to spend the most relaxing time in an eco-friendly habitat.
We had a wonderful stay at Yurimila. It is a great bush retreat which was exactly what we were hoping for. The power is all generated by solar, and the very good cooking facilities are gas. So if you want to escape the electronic madness, this is the place for you. No TV, no WiFi, no radio. Funnily enough you won't be bored- take a good book, or just enjoy the sounds of the bush and the views, go walking, or hop in the car and visit the surrounding area.
We considered ourselves very lucky to be able to stay there for the weekend because we only gave the hosts Tony and Sharon very short notice. They are lovely people, who are passionate about keeping good habitat for the native fauna. We enjoy walking in the bush, looking at plants, animals and birds, so we were in our element. And even better, the temperature was much cooler than Cairns and the humidity much less.
If you like waking up to a view from your comfortable bed, you will enjoy Yurimila. While the house has one bedroom, there are some bunk beds in the main living area. Both Tom and I agree that two couples could enjoy a stay here- as long as you are good friends and relaxed around each other. One couple could easily sleep on the double bed sized bunk. It would be a great place for a family with a few children too.
We had a really lovely experience at Yurimila and we are already planning our next break up there. Thanks Tony and Sharon, and your young ones for sharing your little haven with us.
Maureen and Tom.
This is a beautiful secluded place. It's perfect for couple on a weekend off or for a bunch of friends, not for 2 couples. However, access to the house is through a dirt road, so not great for rented cars and such. The house is fully equipped and the kitchen is gear to work in. There is a lovely fire place, great view and good atmosphere. Tony, our host, was super friendly and helpful. He gave us great traveling tips and went out of his way to help us even when we checked in late at night.
