Hi everyone! My name is Andrea and I was born in Mexico City 27 years ago. My father is from Spain and my mother from Curacao; they met in Venezuela… go figure! I guess this has something to do with my curiosity to learn about different cultures, visit different countries, and most importantly taste what the world has to offer! My entire life, I have had an affinity for food, and after learning how to cook from the best teacher in the world (my mom), I decided to convert my passion for food into a career. I came to New York to study at The Culinary Institute of America, and following that, I’ve cooked in several venues in different parts of the world. While fusion cuisine can be interesting, I personally prefer to cook in the classic style, stressing simplicity and authenticity, striving to produce something that makes you revive the memorable.
Family, friends, charity, food, travel, and music all inspire me, and cooking is my greatest passion. Simple perfection; grilled sardines with olive oil and sea salt, lemon potatoes, a bottle of wine, and the ones you love. Or, maybe buying dinner for someone that otherwise would have gone to sleep hungry. A taco joint and a good concert, I’ll take any of the above any day of the week! NYC is a great place to live. Experiencing the diversity of people, cultures, and faiths respectfully living together in a small island is one of the many reasons I chose it as my home base.
