Alex is a wonderful host! He met us, provided the key, helped us with our luggage and gave us a tour of the home. The home was built in the early 1800s and is in NOLA's Garden District. The home is surrounded by beautiful houses and is only a short walking distance to many restaurants and shops. My friend and I felt very safe in the neighborhood and found great shopping. We were very close to the bus stop on Magazine St. and the trolley stop on St. Charles. Alex was responsive to our needs regarding extra towels and the wifi password. When I return to NOLA, I will be staying in Alex's place!

I absolutely loved staying at this beautiful 1830s garden district mansion. I had a lovely room with a small balcony, private bath, microwave, and mini-fridge. Alex was extremely helpful and responded in lightning speed to my texts. I would definitely stay here again. It is only a 10-15 minute bus ride to the Quarter and the bus stops right on the corner. There seems to be plenty of parking spaces if you come by car or rent a car. Commander's Palace is only a 5 minute walk away. The neighborhood is gorgeous and has plenty of restaurants and shops. Most shops close early but the nearby Walgreens is open until 10 pm. It's an old house so one must be amenable to living in an old building. There was plenty of hot water in the shower but none in the sink. There is no elevator and the steps may be hard to navigate for someone with mobility issues. In the evenings, one must enter through the back and again, the steps may be difficult for some. The house is pet-friendly and that's a real plus for those who can't or won't leave their animals at home. I was there during a cold snap and the heat worked great for the main room but the bathroom was always cold -- again, this is just part of the charm of living in an old house. If you want a real New Orleans experience, definitely stay here.
Alex’s place was amazing!! The best location in New Orleans! The house absolutely gorgeous, charming, historic with lots of character. The room was very private, and had everything you need. There were tons of great shops, bars, restaurants, and even a
Wholefoods Market not far. Alex let me use a cruiser bike and I was able to explore all of the old beautiful houses throughout the Garden District. The 11 bus is also very convenient. It only took about 20 minutes to get to the convention center or Bourbon St. I would highly recommend staying here, but don’t tell too many people because it’s such a great spot:)
There were numerous problems with the room when we rented it - no hot water or water pressure, pee-stained mattress, cockroaches beyond the NOLA norm, and curtains that did not cover the windows or block the street light. Alex bent over backwards to fix what he could but it was honestly never totally comfortable. He replaced the water heater and curtains, and sprayed for roaches. We flipped the mattress and put a new cover on it. We opted to stay rather than leave because we needed to be in that location for family and there was nothing else available nearby. And to be fair, Alex offered a partial refund if we wanted out. Alex gets a top score for his hosting efforts, but the place was in need of a lot of work that should have been done before we rented the room. Location, parking, and on-site laundry were pluses at this place.
Alex is a wonderful host. Full of wonderful Southern Hospitality. He was very attentive to our messages, always responding in a timely manner. Upon arrival, he met up right away with us and gave us the key. He provided us with some history about the location and offered his assistance if we needed it.
Alex was a great host! The house is beautiful and huge! I loved having our own mini apartment. The neighborhood is amazing and safe ( very important if you are first visiting NOLA). Definitely staying there any time I return. Great food and shops in the area is an added bonus.
Alex was wonderful - quick, efficient, and so accommodating of our last minute booking. The space was perfect for two people and a dog. It was clean, beautiful and funky - exactly what we were looking for in a New Orleans stay. Plus we had access to a full kitchen AND balcony. The Garden District was PERFECT. Great food, bars and second hand shopping. All around fantastic experience and we would absolutely stay here again.
We stayed in the Curtis House for 5 days and had a great time. The neighborhood is pleasant and safe. The rooms were excellent and Alex is an incredibly responsive host, always quick to text back to answer questions. We even got to use the upstairs porch and kitchen as much as we wanted. Plus, the house is right next to a bus line that gets you downtown quickly and comes all the time - we found this very convenient.
Great location. No frills. Conveniently located next to a sports bar & bus stop to get around the city.
