Raewyn and Charlie were lovely hosts and their cottage is a real oasis in Bangkok. It's quite a way from the centre (we found the river bus the best option but it takes about an hour as you have to get a bus to the pier) so if you're interested in nightlife it wouldn't be the best. For us it was perfect. Clean, comfortable, spacious, an area to prepare food and hosts who were there when you need them but not 'in your face'. We had a lovely lunch with Charlie, Raewyn and the other guests one day and really appreciated the swimming pool.
I am really glad that we had the swimming pool so that you could wash away the heat of the Bangkok days. All the best with your travels for the next few months.
Ray and Charlie are very nice hosts, very helpfull and kind. Picked us up at the airport, there was a welcome fruit basket in the house and food for the first day, the both helped us everytime when needed and even invited us to a lovely garden BBQ. The house and garden are gorgeus and it is a quiet and peacefull place- also for kids. Charlie made a cute toy present to my son, which was made by himself. :-) if you are looking for a good stay, with super hosts and nature in Bangkok, outside of the tourist crowded area- this is the right place!!We will come again and stay there for sure.
It was great to have you and Marlin as guests. We miss his happy laughter and chatter! All the best for your big holiday and hope to see you again soon.
Charlie and Raewyn could not have been better hosts.
They were warm and helpful.
Our room was clean and well turned out with a comfortable bed, television, fan, AC, ensuite bathroom and balcony. The room, set in a beautiful garden with fruit trees and ponds with huge fish, is part of Charlie's family compound situated on a peaceful canal near a local temple. It is a surprisingly tranquil setting for Bangkok, in a lovely community, and was a great retreat from the tourists and craziness of the central city.
We ate seriously good food locally on the street and had great fun going to local markets and catching local buses and the water taxi into town. Charlie's sister cooked us a delicious Thai feast one night when we were too tired to go out but most of all Charlie, Raewyn and Charlie's family were great company and endlessly helpful.
What can I say Raewyn and Charlie...I wish there were more people like them. Place itself was wondrous in its own way in real thai suburb. Quiet, garden setting, trees, walkways...like mini botanical garden. Small shops 50-60m away, good thai food restaurants 20 min walk, 10-15 min bus ride to big market area and Nothaburi Pier where you can catch shutle boat to near down town and Sky Train. We did stay 11 days at Raewyns and Charlies place.
As our first guests we have had from Finland you have left us with a wonderful impression of Finnish people.Hope to see you again and thank you for the gifts.
We were happy to be guests of Charlie and Rawyen! This house in a tropical garden is a very quiet and peaceful place in the bustling Bangkok. To the city center is easily accessible by transport. When we visit Bangkok next time, we will certainly stay here again!
You and Anna are very welcome to stay here again anytime.
What a wonderful little nature oasis in busy city!
Charlie and Raewyn are exceptional hosts. People like them are not easily found. Their generosity and willingness to help was very beneficial to us during our first week in Bangkok. Charlie offered his phone number even at check-out making himself available should we get in a bind, even after our stay. I cannot recommend them highly enough.
The accommodations were great as well and as-listed. Clean pool, access to full kitchen, and our room was very clean. The DVDs and books were nice too!
Small shops around the corner, 5min walk to bus station and short bus ride to ferry (beautiful experience for reaching city center), local temple within a stone throw.
We so loved our stay here! Raewyn and Charlie are the sweetest people and so helpful. They tried their best to help us with everything we needed and more. They were beyond helpful. We did two tours with them and it was a great experience to learn from Charlie and his Thai culture! The home was perfect it was cozy, the air con is a huge plus...
Can say enough about them so happy we meet them!
WOW!!!! What a Gem! So far my best Airbnb find ever. Very nice house, quiet and clean with lots and lots of green. Nice pool, and moreover wonderful people! We felt so welcome with heartfelt hospitality. If you do not need to be right downtown this place is perfect for a couple or in our case a family. Highly recommended and we will surely stay again!
It was a pleasure to stay with Charlie and Raewyn during the final stages of our trip around the world. The cottage was perfect for our family with each child having there own bed and the master for us. It was in an idealic setting that made it difficult to believe we were in Bangkok. The pool was perfect for the hot afternoons. They also offered a wonderful guided tour of the floating market and river Kwai along with and airport transfer. Access to the city was easy, although does take some time to get downtown. This is not the best set up for young backpackers looking for lots of action but is the best for small families and couples looking for a calm space outside the craziness of Bangkok's city core. Charlie and Raewyn treated us like family and we really enjoyed our time with them. Thanks for your wonderful hospitality!
As a Bangkokian this area showed me a whole new side to the city, the location couldn't be better with views over the Chao Phraya river and nearby pier and the streets below are filled with street food. My plan was to relax in simple life, escape internet and get work done but it was too easy to steal onto nearby wifis and the distractions of food and local markets meant I did very little but enjoy myself. I love this area, very authentic and local. A short taxi ride finds the MRT and the convenient city networks.
I hosted Raewyn and charlie for a few days, but I'm very happy to know lovely people!
They were very precise, tidy and they respected all the house's rules. I got acquainted with splendid people and I absolutely recommended them.
