Dilek and Matt were kindly welcoming. They provided all the details necessary for a enjoyable stay at his place in Austin. We had some great conversations later in the evening about all kind of topics. The location was perfect just in a walk distance even from a downtown - but many thanks Matt giving me a lift to the eCloud Summit in his sporty Mini Cooper !
As Matt and Dilek relocating to Boston area in April I wish you all the best on the journey and maybe see you - and your family - very soon in Boston!
Great location! The house was within walking distance of several unique restaurants and bars. The room was very clean. The owner was very cool and glad I got this experience
Matt and his wife are friendly hosts. The best part about the house, other than the hospitality, is the convenient location in the South Congress neighborhood. The house is walking distance to many coffee shops, restaurants, watering holes, and local shops. Also, there is a H.E.B. (Texas chain grocery store) about a 15-20 minute walk away.
The private room is of good size and the bed is comfortable. It's a queen so as a guy that is 6'2 it fit me well.
Matt was welcoming and friendly. Loved that part of town. Thanks Matt!
Matt provided all the details necessary for a smooth and comfortable stay at his place in Austin. I was out and about most of the days I spent there so we did not cross paths but he was very helpful when I reached out. The location was great for spending time on South Congress, which is one of my favorite areas.
Unfortunately, my wife and I never got a chance to meet Matt or his wife, but he seemed super warm and accommodating in the correspondence we had. The location of the apartment is incredible: all of the great spots on South 1st and South Congress are walkable, and his neighborhood is one of our favorites in Austin. The bed is also super comfy, and the room has plenty of space. We felt right at home.
The only disclaimer I would mention is for light sleepers. This has nothing to do with Matt, it's just something that I think I would want to know beforehand if I was a light sleeper. We stayed there mostly during the weekdays, when Matt would get up and get ready for work around 6:45am, and the walls are so thin that just taking a shower was loud enough to wake us up early during the weekday mornings. This is probably less of an issue during the weekends, when I'm sure everyone gets up later, and, of course, if you sleep like a brick, you're probably fine.
This was my first AirBnB experience and Matt was amazing. He explained to me that I should read all the fine print and if I had any questions that I can ask him. He was responsive to all my queries and extremely helpful.
His house was extremely easy to get to from the airport, only a 30 min bus ride at $1.75 vs the $30+ Uber or cab ride. I arrived early and left early. In both instances Matt was super accommodating and was willing to help with our travel times.
Now the house, AMAZING. I was absolutely over the moon with the location first and foremost. It is right off South Congress which is where all the trendy shops and restaurants are located. An easy walk across the Colorado River to downtown Austin. I walked the first two days and was able to get from his place to downtown, east Austin and the Capital. Although it isn't for everyone, I love seeing the cities on foot. Furthermore, the house is near all the culinary must sees in Austin. Touchy Tacos, Elizabeth Cafe, Gourdoughs Doughnuts, Dolce Neve, South Congress Cafe... I could go on and on.
The house was clean and comfortable. Matt was an absolutely great host who made me a cup of tea after a night of food that didn't agree with being digested....I got sick. It was probably the first time an AirBnB'er threw up at his place without ever drinking a single beer.
Overall, I loved my experience! I would definitely recommend to any traveler looking for a great place to stay in the heart of what makes Austin 'weird'.
Finally. Go to CRAFT. It is a little art studio off 1st Ave and has great classes and an absolutely wonderful owner named Eli!!
Wonderful stay in perfect location. Cheers!
The most incredible hosts! First night we all had dinner together, talked about everything from religion, different guru's and views on life. House was super clean and bed was extra cozy! Everything about my time there was perfect :) #twolessstrangers
Matt and Dilek were warm and welcoming folks. We were running around during our visit so didn't get to hang out a lot, but they welcomed us into their home and even found us space to store our bikes.
Their place was clean, spare and artsy and the bed was super comfy! There are lots of good eats in walking distance and parking was always available just around the corner (though they are moving soon).
Matt is the ideal guest! I felt like I had a dear family member staying with me. Matt is conscientious, kind, tidy, reliable and FUN. Host him. He is awesome.
Matt was incredibly nice and helpful, only he wasn't able to stay as long as his booking indicated, which is understandable given the nature of his visit.
Matt's semi extended stay was, in a word, a joy. Great guy, super smart, courteous, respectful, NICE - an absolute airbnb perfecto. I could not recommend Matt more highly to the airbnb community, he's a prince of a man! Thanks for the visit, Matt, and welcome to Austin! - Marcos
Want to stay in New York but dont want to spend ridiculous amounts of money? Do you want tasty snacks and a super comfy living situation? How about weird knick knacks to play with and a really awesome shower? If you said yes to any of the above, you should probably stay at Matts place.
Matt is a great guy. He is ridiculously fun to talk to and responsible. I have seen him prepare for visitors. He is thoughtful and thorough. I would love to stay on his couch because I can personally attest to the comfortableness (not sure if thats a word) of said couch and the welcoming vibes that Matt and his wife give off. Anyone would be lucky to stay at Matt's place.
