As I was told, the houseboat was near the center (5-10min by foot) and in a quiet neighbor. The hosts arrived at time and showed us a plan for places, monuments and museums to see. We liked the style of the boat, not much of them are colorful as this one!
The houseboat was wonderful! it had everything we needed and was in an excellent location! Couldn't imagine spending the weekend in Amsterdam another way from this point forward.
Very well managed by an agency, which means friendly reliable communication and great service. The boat is cozy and nice, really a treat to come home to after a long day of museums and eating and nightlife. I would absolutely return, but be aware that it is a solid 15 minute walk from the real core of the city, no big deal at all, just a consideration.
I had to be moved just before I arrived to a different houseboat from original booking -- this was handled well and the boat I got worked very well for my party of 4. It was nicely appointed, all work as expected, and the neighborhood was quiet, yet centrally located.
Our host, George and team, provided an excellent overview of the city/attractions and was friendly and responsive to request for help getting a taxi back to airport.
My party was quite happy with the overall experience.
We had a really great time on the houseboat. It was a unique experience. The photos are perfectly representing the real looks of it. At the same time it's romantic and still has all modern comfort: great shower and bathroom, super comfy mattress...we especially appreciated Robert and Paul welcoming us, and taking the time to sit down with us with recommendations and tips for us tourists. Thank you for the great memories!
Such a perfect place to stay with a few friends. It was a very quiet neighborhood on the outskirts of the city but was a reasonable walking distance. It was kept very clean yet still felt very comfortable and lived in. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wanted a quiet, cozy place to stay!
It was interesting to stay on a houseboat. It's cool you are right on the canal. The area is awesome because you can access the downtown area but at the same time you aren't directly in it. It was nicer to be able to go to the non touristy restaurants and cafes.
Thanks Vinay for those nice words, please come again...
George himself ownes many houseboats in Amsterdam a has several people taking care of his listing. They where all kind a available.
However upon arrival we where sent to a wrong location which was not prepared for any visitors. On the next day we where transfered to the correct place, which was nice, but the pictures do make it look nicer. Everything else was as described, except for the city tax which had to be paid extra (5% of total).
The boat is conveniently located, 15 minutes by bike to city center, metro station about 10 minutes walk, tram and bus only about 5 minutes away.
With a little more work on the boat the place could be much nicer.
Thanks for those nice words, I;ll keep in mind your suggestions and make the boat a better place.
Excellent service from the time we booked. Had immediate confirmation from our host; just before we were due to travel, our host changed but we were informed in advance and everything went well. We contacted Robert when we arrived in Amsterdam and he was there to show us around the boat. Very easy to find and a great location on the Prinsengracht. Loved our stay, everything as described. The boat is quirky with lots of character. Bumped our heads a few times but you soon get used to the unusual living space! The sauna was fantastic, beds and sofa comfy. Great to sit up on deck watching the world go by. Would definitely return. Best Amsterdam trip yet!
Jacob and Patti are both free spirited souls that are extremely welcoming and made us feel right at home from the start. The attic loft was amazing, we woke up to the sounds of bells and the location was terrific, right in the heart of Chinatown and very close to the red light district, we never felt unsafe in the neighbourhood. We had an unforgettable time with Jacob and Patti.
Patti & Jacob were awesome! We absolutely loved staying at their beautiful place in Amsterdam. The location was central, very close to a market, the train station, and of course the red light district =) The beds were comfortable, and had a nice view, and very spacious. Jacob and Patti were very accommodating, answered all our questions and gave us great tips on where to go, and they were very friendly and chill to hang out with. We hope to see them again soon... And thanks Jacob and Patti if you are reading this!
