I came upon airbnb when I was planning a trip to Ireland in the fall of 2013. It's a great site and idea, and I much prefer staying with people who are local - not a big fan of large hotels at all. I am from the United States and have always loved to travel: last trip to Ireland, England, Geneva, Barcelona and Israel. I am a teacher and currently teach a variety of courses through the community college in my area - a variety of ESL courses (English as a Second Language), Spanish, Irish History, and now this semester a class on Israel and its history, through the geography and historical places (which of course are everywhere there!).
Five things I can't live without: water, friends, dark chocolate, a good night's sleep, and being able to laugh every day. Favorite book: too many to name. But 'The Alchemist' by Paolo Coelho is always there. Favorite movie? the same issue. I love 'Babe' and 'Sliding Doors'. Like all music. Food? middle eastern. Falafel. Hummus. Fresh veggies. Fruit smoothies. Favorite travel destination: the open road. And I really love Ireland.
I'm pretty easygoing and the one thing that really gets to me is cigarettes. Like to take my time when travelling and really take in a place - much prefer to be in one town/village/city/national park for several days, rather than trying to take in a whole large area.
a life motto? carpe diem, but with abundant gratitude, kindness and compassion for all other beings. And it's all about one's attitude that will make the day what it is!
so have a great one! cheers~
