I really appreciate Charlotte taking us in at such late notice. Responses were quick and my booking was completed in a jiffy. The loft is a pretty cool place too and in a great neighborhood. For those with luggage, please do get in before 8pm on weekdays as the lift stops after that and the stairs will be a pain with it being so creaky and narrow.
What I didn't like:
It was stated in the listing that there's A/C but that is not true. I understand that the A/C is usually taken out during cooler months but I'd have preferred shutting my windows completely as when I got in at midnight, there was noise from the people at the bars below the streets that I wanted to shut out. The room is also supposed to have been cleaned but I doubt much was done. There were sweet wrappers on the floor when I got in, along with tissues behind the dresser mirror and on the floor. The pillows were worse - stained and/or soft and shapeless. The shared shower area was also a mess with a lot of empty toiletries lying around.
All-in-all, stay here if you have low expectations of cleanliness and shared spaces. This place would be good for creatives and creative inspiration.
Would not recommend: this place looks nothing like the photos and the listing is generally misleading. The main room is dingy, very little natural light. While the main room is very spacious, there is practically no furniture which defeats the point of having so much space. There were no performances while I was there, not sure about the status on that.
My bed had hairs in, pretty nasty. Charlotte and the guy who lives there were responsive and concerned when I flagged this, and said that the sheets were changed. Other than that the room was fine and seemed clean. There's a fair amount of street noise as one would expect.
Charlotte's responsiveness was a mixed bag: sometimes she would reply to me very quickly, but on other occasions would take over an hour to get back to me with important information about check in, where to pick up keys etc. The check in process was long and drawn out, taking most of the afternoon, and I had to chase her for replies several times. This was despite me getting in touch with her many days earlier with messages reminding her of my stay and asking for this information ahead of time. Can't imagine how annoyed I would have been if I was arriving after a long haul flight. As a host I think Charlotte is a bit too "super laid back" for my taste, and overall it feels like the bare minimum is being done to keep this place ticking over with guests.
The bathroom was clean, but the kitchen was impractical and dirty, and the fridge had insects inside.
The only thing this place has going for it is location. It doesn't feel particularly "arty", unless some chairs bolted to a wall fits the bill for you, and it generally was not a fun place to be.
We didn't seem much or Charlotte but Taylor, her business partner was extremely nice and helpful. The location was amazing. The place was a little messy but nothing worth worrying about. The bathroom at times got annoying as there were so many people there, all sharing it, and the tiles kept coming off and the hot water ran out late at night but other than that is a really nice place to stay. Kept cool in summer.
The apartment is in a great location in New York & although we didn't actually meet Charlotte, simple arrangements were made for us to pick up the keys.
The space is perhaps a bit run-down and untidy, nut but in terms of it's cost, the apartment represents good value.
Charlotte is super cool,
Cool as a cucumber in fact. She laid everything out for me, she was very friendly, fun and kept awesome conversation when she would stop in.
Her demeanor is very laid back, and very professional I felt super comfortable staying with her.
As for the location, this loft is wild!
It is very bohemian, I loved the eclectic choice of decor and the atmosphere. It's very cool.
If you're a creative type, like meeting new people, and being in an open living space, it's the right location.
Thanks for everything Charlotte!
Place was fine. Definitely felt like a crash pad but it's great for one or two nights. Great location and interesting space.
I had 12 days there, and it was an excellent base for both downtown and uptown, as there are several subway lines in an easy walk from there. The room was large and light, and the bathroom and kitchen facilities were good, and very functional. It is an eccentric space, and shows are no longer put on there. Would recommend it.
This was my first airbnb exp. And it was great , Better than staying at hotels. The place and location was great. Although i did not meet charlotte, but she arranged everything well. And kept the room cleaned ready for me. Very near little italy and china town.
Good location to Chinatown and little Italy.
My experience here was excellent. My daughter and I enjoyed the space, location, and vibe of the loft. This place may not be suited for everyones taste, but it suited ours perfectly. I highly recommend staying if you get a chance.
Charlotte was a fantastic guest I would highly recommend her.
Charlotte is a lovely, charming straight shooter. She's a good soul and is one hell of a great time.
