It was my fault for leaving the A/C on the amenities list and since we were on the other side of the planet during a massive heat wave, had to get a friend to bring a floor A/C unit in addition to the one that was in the living room. We are in the process of removing the "shared" hallway so by 2014 each unit will have its own separate entrance but for now, yes, the tenants upstairs come through the same entrance. We live in the lower unit so have had it like this since we bought the house. Once the entrances are separated, the tools and supplies will be moved. Thanks for staying and good luck in future travels!
Olga wrote this after I gave her a two star review on her site. The only thing disastrous was her attitude in helping us. It is really hard to complain about a guest that left everything perfectly and communicated with her throughout but I suppose she had to find something to fictionalize to complain about since I was honest in the review of my stay. To her points, my companion was my business colleague and from my initial inquiry I asked about a second set of keys. Olga insisted on a cash deposit for the keys of a few hundred dollars. I did not feel confident giving someone cash ON TOP of the airbnb security deposit. How did I know I would get this back? Regarding check in, Olga had promised me that I could check in early (8am) when my flight landed. Two days before she told me that I couldn't check in anymore as they wouldn't be done with work in the apartment (which led to a terrible smell). So I had to figure out a solution to storing my bags for the day while I took meetings. She told me I could check in AFTER 4pm. I was working all day long and when I had time during the day I emailed her to the email on airbnb saying I would come around 7pm. (I got there at 7.20pm and she told me later she doesn't check the email listed on airbnb) She had left, had not left a 2nd key and the place smelled when I got in. (as noted above) I have had only perfect reviews on this site from both hosting and staying and yet it seems there are little problems with most of Olga's guests in each review - a little fabrication here or there that just doesn't seem right, which is the experience I had. To sum this up, it took until the 4th night of my stay to get a 2nd key. That isn't right, when that was my first request. I am not quite sure how I would stab a stranger who was hosting me in her brother's apartment in her back but I suppose Olga could make up a way to tell us this.
