My friends and I had a lovely stay on the boat. Great location with good access into the city centre. Spacious inside and ideal for a long weekend break.
We Stayed 10 nights on Marnix's boat and it was an amazing time. Marnix was very helpful in getting to his boat and helping when you first arrive. The location is excellent! It is in a quite little area removed from a lot of the hustle of the main city. However it is a short walk from a small shopping mall including two grocery stores. Right by the store is also the tram. This tram will take you to city center or change trams at next stop to head to central station and catch train to airport.
The weather while during our vacation was a bit bad but being able to come home and start a fire in the stove on the boat was amazing and made it so snug and comfortable.
We also had a lot of fun feeding the ducks and seagulls that live in the area.
Would definitely recommend staying on the boat to anyone and would definitely stay there again myself.
4 of us had a great time staying on this houseboat. It is in a quiet, residential neighborhood with excellent access to public transportation, markets, and places to eat. It was perfect for two couples who spent all day and evening sightseeing and hanging out on the boat at night. Just note that two of the beds are close to each other and one of those bed is next to the sink/shower, in case privacy is an issue.
We were very happy with choosing this listing during our stay in Amsterdam. The accommodation was exactly as it was listed in the description with great views of the harbor within a very friendly neighborhood. Marnix was extremely helpful in the entry and lockup of the accommodation. I would highly recommend this listing to anyone else looking to have a relaxing vacation in Amsterdam!
Marnix's houseboat is a fantastic place to stay in Amsterdam. It's located a short distance from the Central Station, on both a major tram line and bus route. Or it's a quick 15 minute bike ride. There are nice cafes, local restaurants, supermarkets, and a bakery near by. The boat itself is spacious with comfortable beds, a living room, and a kitchen. Marnix is very helpful with explaining the workings of the boat and is quick to jump in if any help is needed. We would do it again!
This boat is a really nice place to stay. Even if the accommodation is not located in the city centre you can get there very easy and fast by tram. Also, when staying all day long at the fantastic but crowded city, it is very nice to get to such a quiet and peaceful place. The boat has everything one needs for a perfect stay and close by the boat there are also supermarkets and restaurants. The communication with Marnix was fast and pleasant. So, simply said: This is a very recommendable accommodation.
Had the most fantastic time staying onboard Marnix's boat! This is a really special place to stay. I was met by Marnix's friend who welcomed me to the boat and showed me around the boat and told me everything I needed to know.
The booklet which Marnix has put together and is on the boat was fantastic, really informative about the boat, the local area, as well as the city of Amsterdam.
The location is fantastic, a quiet area but so easy to get into the city centre either by tram or by walking.
The boat is clean and comfortable, and I would recommend staying here if you want something different from an apartment!
Wunderschönes Boot und gute Atmosphäre
We had a beautiful time at the boat. The communication with Marnix was very good and fast.
The only problem we had was with park and ride. They charged us 96 euro for parking for four days. The man told us that we did something wrong with the tram ticket but we could not find out what. Maybe Marnix could give an explanation for the next guests.
But all the rest was just perfect. Thank you, Marnix
This is the most amazing accommodation I have ever stayed in! Staying on a house boat is a unique experience and Marnix's boat is so beautiful and well equipped that it made our trip extra special. The boat is exactly as you see in the photos, but even more spacious. It was extremely clean amd there was everything we could possibly need: plenty of gleaming white, soft towels, clean, fresh bedlinen, and a perfectly equipped, modern kitchen. The beds are incredibly comfortable, and so are the lounge and dining area, all with spectacular views of the river, with ducks and moorhens swimming past the windows! We were lucky to have very hot weather and spent most of our time on the huge terrace alongside the boat, where we ate our meals and relaxed, enjoying the complete peace and tranquility of the area. We even swam with the ducks!
The boat is ideally located as there are 2 major supermarkets and several excellent bars and restaurants only minutes walk away. Everyone we met was really friendly and helpful and we immediately felt at home.
Amsterdam centre can be reached in 10 minutes on a bus (which stops almost beside the boat) or 25 minutes walking, along the river. The city centre, with all it's canals and splendour is fabulous, but extremely busy, and for us ( I was travelling with my 2 teenage sons) it was perfect to be staying just outside the centre as we could choose between the hustle and bustle of the centre and the calm, clean residential area where Marnix's boat is located. We were very glad not to have rented a boat on one of the main central canals as it probably would have been very noisy.
Marnix is the perfect host, friendly, helpful and prompt to reply all though the booking process. He was waiting for us when we arrived and just told us to treat the pace as our home and enjoy ourselves. He also responded very quickly and helpfully when we had a couple of questions during our stay.
All in all this was a fantastic experience, our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer! I can't recommend Marnix's boat highly enough. If I am lucky enough to visit Amsterdam again I wouldn't consider staying anywhere else! Thanks Marnix!
