I'm a college professor who loves travel and especially to Mexico. Manzanillo is a perfect place in my estimation because it still feels authentic and isn't too touristy.

The McKinley Lake Cabin was great! My group and I really enjoyed the cozy cabin, great cooking utensils, and beautiful woods! Twelve of us stayed in the cabin for the Birkie ski race and the cabin was really convenient to get to and from Hayward. We hope to come back next year, for Birkie and other times too!
We had a fabulous time at this beautiful cabin! The cabin was clean, nicely decorated and had a very well equipped kitchen. The view was spectacular, and we were able to hike a very well marked wooded trail around the lake. We did walk accidently on the neighbor's property while trying to hike out to the lake off of the MLT trail. (Our apologies if you hear about that Jay.) The open space of the dining, sitting and kitchen area was perfect for our group to relax, cook and play games. The basement was a little cold to sleep in for the winter, but there were plenty of blankets and electric heaters to make do. It is relatively difficult to see other lake homes while on the lake in the winter, so I imagine it feels very remote in the summer when the leaves are on the trees. It was quiet, beautiful, comfortable and perfect. We sledded, hiked, cooked and had a great time. We loved to read the journal of other guests, and the history of the lake and cabin that was on the walls to read and view pictures. The guest house was a good place for one of our group members to go to finally get a good night sleep away from the kids, although he did need to wear his coat and snowpants to bed. There is an extra fridge in the basement and a washer and dryer. Both were very handy to us! This was our favorite winter place yet by far, and we find a place each New Year's as a group of 3 families with kids. We very much hope to be able to return soon. Jay was also very flexible to our special requests while booking and gave a lot of communication and information in advance to our trip. We also had a question on the day of checkout and were able to call and speak to the caretakers immediately, which was quite helpful. Thank you so much Jay, Andy, Patty and Rick!
Loved the Casita. Exactly what we were looking for.
This was a great experience for me and my wife. Everything was as described/presented, and we loved our stay at La casita: we loved every moment of it. Armando was there when we needed him and gave us a lot of helpful information about the neighborhood / city.
I highly recommend La Casita de la Plaja to anyone who wants a beautiful, relaxing holiday right on the beach in Manzanillo Mexico.
We had a terrific time at Jay's place in Manzanillo. The house was neat, cozy, and right on the beach. We thought having a kitchen outdoors would be a lot of fun, and it was. We ended up spending the majority of our time hanging out on the back patio with drinks in hand, watching the waves roll in. That is, until Hurricane Vance decided to come our way...! The last night of our stay we had some high winds and lots of rain. The house stayed dry, however, and by the morning, the storm had passed us by. Thanks for a great stay!
On The Beach or Location, location, location! This is your spot!
The casita and outdoor kitchen and bath are well supplied, clean, and a wonderful experience . I actually enjoyed washing the dishes to the crash of the waves and looking over my shoulder at same was marvelous. For relief from the humidity the casita has a/c. Wi Fi worked. Armando the casita manager speaks English and is knowledgable, attentive, very welcoming. Also all our pre rental communication with the owner was spot on. What you see on the Internet site is true to what one actually gets. There is a marvelous guide in the casita complete with maps to nearby towns and I recommend you visit them. We did and it made for a great time. For people with children this close to the beach location is ideal and the casita easily can accommodate a family of four. Also for down time the yard is quite lovely, peaceful, and again the view, and what sunsets!
