Avid world traveller throughout US, Pacific, Asia, Oceania and Europe. Stayed in 4-star hotels to hostels to sleeping on the floor of ashrams and local homes to camping on lawns. Done pre-arranged tours, Hop-on tours, self-guided tours, blind exploration, and adventure activities. Survived tuk-tuk crashes, floods, climbing trips gone awry, stolen passports, pickpockets, con artists, molesters, robbers, Delhi-bellies, parasites, dog attacks, even hostile natives off their faces. Even so, still love meeting new people, having experiences off the beaten path, learning about other cultures and languages, and devouring local cuisines.
My style of travel is very loose and spontaneous, go with the flow. I prefer to pick one spot as a base of operations for a region and do day-trips to the surroundings rather than hop to another city/village every 2-3 days. I hate being rushed, I appreciate hospitality and consideration from my hosts, and I won't deal with pushy people trying to sell/upgrade me on unwanted stuff just so they can get a commission. I care about clean and comfortable rooms and friendly staff. Some days, I'll be all about adventure and others I'll just want to lounge about and read a book, sipping a cold beverage.
