Karen is a great host! Everything as promised. Perfect location for enjoying everything Midtown Atlanta has to offer.
Karen is a great host. She is friendly and responsive and knows the area very well. I loved the location, close to the park and Marta stations.
Staying at La Vie Boheme was a wonderful opportunity to experience Midtown Atlanta as a "local". The apartment is walking distance from a number of restaurants, bars, and coffee shops as well as Piedmont Park. In town for a wedding, we rented a car and what couldn't be reached on foot was a short car ride away (parallel parking proficiency will come in handy!) The apartment itself is VERY well maintained and decorated with personality. The kitchen was well stocked and we cooked a handful of meals after a run to the nearby grocery store. Karen very clearly puts in the time and effort to make sure guests feel comfortable, from spotless cleaning to the jazz music playing in the bedroom on arrival. As anybody who lives inside a thriving city can tell you, the excitement of the city does extend into the night, so be prepared to fall asleep to the sounds of the city enjoying a weekend. For a couple looking for an Atlanta experience, I would strongly recommend Karen's La Vie Boheme!
La Vie Boheme was exactly what we expected from the pictures! We found it to be a great location - close to Piedmont Park, coffee shops, and night life. Most things we wanted to do were within a few miles. This listing has plenty of charm and we would definitely stay again. The fridge seemed to be broken, but I would assume Karen will be fixing that shortly. She is an attentive and very helpful host. We had a great time!
Karen is an excellent host. This is an older apartment, but it had all the amenities we needed. The location couldn't be better and that is the obvious appeal for staying here. You will not be able to find a hotel with these same amenities for a comparable price. Karen obviously cares about her reputation as a host and made every attempt to suit our needs.
There were three of us in Karen's apartment and we had previously rented three AirBnB/(website hidden) homes in the past 10 months, which were all generally positive experiences. Here are the pros and cons of the listing, in our opinion:
Pros: Karen herself is a big plus, a great communicator and very responsive, offering many restaurant, transportation and sightseeing suggestions. She answered any inquiries almost immediately. Great reception with wine, muffins and bread in the fridge, towels laid out, beds made, music turned on - lots of great welcoming touches and Karen really seemed to put great effort in setting it up nicely. The sheets, towels and beds were clean. The location is a huge plus with all of the nearby restaurants, the park, the MARTA station, something we missed when we moved out on the third day.
Cons: The building itself is an old wooden building and could use some basic maintenance. The kitchen is very small, quite cluttered and with virtually no counter space. The bathroom is also very small and could use some repairs of its walls and a particular towel holder. We were given two keys: One for the main building door, which also opened the apartment, and one for our apartment dead bolt. The dead bolt seemed to lock when we turned the key, but really did not, as we learned on the second day, because the door jamb had shifted just enough such that the bolt could not enter the opening in the door jamb. Therefore, we really only had one functional lock and were afraid that anyone who had the key to the building door could also enter our apartment as the same key opened both. There were loud parties in the apartment right below us for the two weeknights we were there, the first one from 11:00 p.m. to about 4:00 a.m. and the second from about 1:00 a.m. to 5:30 a.m. When we banged on the floor at 4:00 a.m. on the second night, the neighbor opened her downstairs door and yelled that if we had a problem we should come down and tell her about it, which we perceived as threatening. The noise then escalated until about 5:30 a.m. with loud verbal arguments. Feeling unsafe and without sleep for two nights, we notified Karen in the morning that we were moving to a hotel, which we did, and she was very accommodating and agreed to refund us for two nights. Airbnb, after we contacted them, refunded us for the third night (we had booked five nights). We see all the positive responses and realize our experience with the lock and the noise might have been our bad luck and not an ongoing thing. We wish Karen well and hope she continues to be successful.
Karen's place was perfect for me. It is surrounded by great restaurants and a fantastic neighborhood. Very safe, plenty of parking, comfy bed and a huge living room to relax in. I had a few questions for her during my stay, and she was always responsive. I would highly recommend her apartment!
This was an excellent alternative to staying in an overpriced hotel for a 3 day conference that I recently attended. Karen was an amazing host who provided milk, cereal, coffee, and even a couple of her local favorite beers. I had the one bedroom apartment all to myself.
If you are looking for a 4-5 star experience, stick to the hotels. If you just need a place to crash with internet, air-conditioning, and a very kind and accommodating host, Karen's accommodations are a great value.
We had a very nice stay at Karen's place. The apartment is lovely and cozy and the location is perfect to enjoy Atlanta's nightlife.
Moreover Karen was very responsive and nice with us.
Definitely a very good place to stay in Atlanta !
Karen's place was great. The location is fantastic and Karen is flexible and easy to communicate with.
