My friends would probably agree that I am curious and love to learn new things - and one of the delights of travel is getting to explore new places. I have worked and traveled in Africa and Asia, and love learning about different cultures, foods, and perspectives. When I travel, I love just walking around a city, and I'm fascinated by the little things that reflect what daily life is like there. So I check out ordinary things like grocery stores as well as museums, to see what's different on the shelves and get a glimpse of what it would be like to live there.
I love to read; have rarely met a cheese I didn't like; love ethnic food. I used to throw pots (out of love, not talent); I enjoy art, and artisanal crafts and foods. I've been learning gardening basics (first flowers, now adding vegetables). I have two cats and good relationships with several friends' dogs. I enjoy jazz, blues, and Irish jam sessions.
A life motto would probably be something I found when I was young: If I were to die tomorrow, I would plant an apple tree today.
