We're a couple living in our own home with our friendly labrador retriever, MayDay.
We're both pretty laid back, work hard but enjoy socializing, having our friends over and traveling.
Great hosts, really nice reception. Gave us a tour of the house and made sure we felt at home.
The house is very well decorated and is even better than the pictures. Really close to the Bull Island beach as well!
Mick’s parents came over and they were really nice too. He made some tea and we had a nice chat.
Mayday, the dog, is really polite and playful.
All in all, a really nice place to stay, along with great hosts. I recommend it!
We only got to stay one night with these guys, but enjoyed it. I am pretty sure I can't say anything that hasn't already been said. Exactly as advertised, amazing house lovely couple. I would recommend to take a taxi from the airport as its probably a lot quicker and is only about 20 Euro.
My mother and I stayed with Mick and Shay for 4 days/3 nights and found everything to be completely wonderful! Mick and Shay were very friendly and welcoming. They answered any questions we had and gave us tips about how to get around and things to do in Dublin. The room was perfect, with plenty of space for both of us to have our suitcases and things laid out and a bed that let us sleep like babies. If and when we return to Dublin, we will definitely look to stay with Mick and Shay again! (Getting some extra love from their dog, MayDay, was definitely a nice bonus as well!)
Awesome Place Right By the Sea.. the best place to stay away from the City Centre and you are still only 10 to 15 mins in the heart of Dublin..
BTW the Host are Awesome too :)
We really enjoyed our stay at Mick and Shay's – the house is beautiful, big, modern and clean and the room we stayed in was very comfortable. Shay was away while we were there but Mick was a great host, he gave us plenty of tips on what to see and do in Dublin and even drove us into the city the evening we got there. All in all a very pleasant experience – we felt welcome and at home from the beginning. Although the house is a little out of the centre there is a bus that takes you straight into the city so that isn't a problem. We would definitely stay with Mick, Shay and their very friendly labrador Mayday again!
Shay and Mick were excellent hosts, made me feel right at home and helped me with buses and train times to get to my various meetings in Dublin. They also lent me a travel card so that I didn't have to deal with exact change for the bus - a huge help! Their place is stylish indeed and close to the gorgeous St Anne's Park and Rose gardens - an absolute must when you stay with Mick and Shay.
The house is very nice, not so far from the center using the bus n.130, and the guest room is really comfortable, with a good bed, a sofa and a fireplace, too (I didn't use the latter).
Mick is really friendly, he helped me getting acquainted with the house and the city.
I recommend visiting Mick & Shay while staying in Dublin!
We spent two nights with Mick and Shea this month and had a great time. Their house is gorgeous and the area, while not right downtown, was pretty convenient to everything we wanted to do (once we found our way around this confusing city- most roads do not have name signs so GPS is recommended). A big advantage if you're driving is the ample parking right out front because most of the downtown places have no parking available.
We found Mick and Shea to be really charming, especially Mick, with whom we had many long conversations before bedtime. I really wish we had spent a couple more nights in Dublin and would stay here again in a heartbeat.
Review from my husband Adam who stayed with Mick and Shay: Great room with huge window facing out into the front garden and street that let in lots of light and gave a great atmosphere to the room. Huge communal kitchen and lounge room with a phenomenal wall of window leading out to a large backyard where an afternoon in the sunshine is a delight. The kitchen was appointed with everything you would need to use and a shelf in the fridge and a space in the pantry was put aside for personal food items. Mitch and Shay were perfect hosts making me feel at home and welcome as well as being great sources of information on things to do and how to get around. They rose to the challenge of finding me a thin and flat pillow without any problem and their black Labrador dog 'Mayday' was an absolute delight and quickly became my new best friend in Dublin for my stay there. Their flat was easily accessed by public transport bus#130 right from the centre of town. I was in Dublin to watch some cricket at the Clontarf ground which was a 20-30 min pleasant stroll away from their place and would gladly go back to stay in Mitch and Shay's room again.
We had some difficulty finding accommodations in Dublin because it was a busy time. Thank goodness for Mick and Shay being responsive and available. Check-in was smooth. We only met Shay since Mick was away. They have a black lab called MayDay. We instantly fell in love with her and were able to take her on a walk to the nearby rose gardens! She is a very friendly and well-behaved dog. The home has recently been remodeled and looks fantastic. The decor is very modern. The bedroom is large and clean with everything brand new. The large bathroom upstairs is shared but only to shower. There is a smaller bathroom across the bedroom with a toilet and sink. The internet is super fast too! The location is great if traveling by ferry as we were. It is also a short bus ride into the Dublin city center.
Mick and Shay were a pleasure to host at my apartment! Communication was clear and they left the apartment just as they found it. If they are traveling in your city I would recommend you open your doors to them!
Great Guest! Clean, easy to communicate with and a pleasure to host. Highly recommended.
Mick and Shay arranged for them and their friends to come and stay in our apartment for a couple of days. Communication with the guys was excellent! It was great to host them, we had a really nice chat, and they were very respectful of our place. We would happily host Mick and Shay again :-)
