Dear Gema, Thank you for your comments reflecting on your stay with us. Your points are noted.
This answer is to put forward our point of view in an attempt to put things in their right perspective.
To our knowledge accidental breaks insurance is not provided universally. The house is insured for tenants’ personal accidents. Breaks and other damages instigated by tenants are covered by them and there is a deposit in the contract you signed, which as a courtesy was not activated. In your case, you broke the glass by slamming the door to the wall, and you were kindly asked to cover the cost of replacement. There is no insurance coverage for glasses broken by intense force.
Upon arrival you mentioned that you would not be interested in using the kitchen, which is the usual “kitchenette” size furnished in all villas and studios rented. In retrospect you felt that it was suboptimal so in all fairness we fail to understand the purpose of this comment. Bathroom has two doors. The inner one is malfunctioning but the outer one is closing perfectly.
Wi-Fi quality is above our ability. We encounter sparsely the same problems in our adjacent residency. It is provided by one of the major internet providers and charging a refundable fee for a portable element is also a worldwide practice.
The house is located indeed on one of the main roads of the city and traffic can be heavy during rush hours. As you might have noticed the house name is “Central Villa” so it was clear that this was not a suburban accommodation. In town premises do not provide absolute serenity but previous tenants in the past and these currently in house had been and are still using the backyard regularly. We had no previous complaints regarding traffic noise. In addition, we had no complaints about non-working light switches. We looked into it and we could not identify any. In addition, the 10-15 minute drive to city centre you mentioned is completely incorrect, as the house is very central, and google maps’ official drive time is 4 minutes (less than 2km).
The house was partially refurbished last year and full refurbishment was planed this year which unfortunately could not materialize due to the financial “hurricane” that hit Greece and the ensuing capital controls. Even under these circumstances, a refurbishment including brand new kitchen and bathroom is planned to start by October 2015.
All in all considering the fee paid combined with the length of stay and the fact that guests of yours not registered on the initial contract were allowed to stay at no extra charge qualifies your stay as an extreme value for money deal. It is encouraging that in your final comment you express your enchantment about your stay.
We sincerely believe our response addresses the issues raised and that we will have the chance to host you again in the future.
