Hello, my name is Carolina and I am the Casa da Borboleta’s host.
The Casa da Borboleta is my own house and offers to the guests two bedrooms and a studio.
Since I was born I have the privilege of living in this paradise called São Miguel island, the largest of nine Azorean islands.
I am biologist but at the moment I teach in a professional school.
I love to share my home with other persons and, whenever I can, it gives me a great pleasure to show the unique places of my island to the guests.
When guests arrive I provide them all necessary information, give them some suggestions of places to visit and try to provide a quiet and peaceful stay.
I am vegetarian and interested me a wide variety of subjects such as Buddhism, traditional Chinese medicine, feng-shui, organic farming, etc.
I love doing nature walks and I have as hobbies reading, meditation, yoga, walking trails, mountain bike and jeep tours.
I have pets, four small rescued female dogs, very sweet and friendly, which do not contact physically with guests unless they want.
Near the house there is a natural pool, a forest reserve and a golf course.
The Azores climate is temperate, registering average temperatures of 13 ° C in winter and 24 ° C in summer. Seawater has an average temperature between 17 ° C and 23 ° C. The air is humid, with an average relative humidity of about 75%. It is usual four seasons in one day, so it is advisable to include in suitcase a rain coat.
There is a long list of activities that tourists can do on the island. They can choose between the following activities: walking trails; caving; bird watching; whale watching; fishing; surfing; snorkeling; scuba diving; boating; mountain biking; jeep tours; rappelling; canyoning; golf; sky/stars watching; geocaching; paragliding; kitesurfing; tea tasting - unique tea plantation in Europe; bath in thermal water pools; among many others that for sure will make unforgettable your visit to the Azores.
