Response from Ali & Justin:
The guest arrived in the middle of a blizzard in NYC and the weather caused
the gas to go out in our building (which has never happened before)
affecting the hot water and gas dryer, resulting in the towels not to dry.
Wet towels not being ideal (very sorry about that) our friend offered to
come and re-wash the towels but the guests told us it was not necessary.
We checked in multiple times after the initial gas incident to make sure
that everything else was going smoothly. She made no mentioned the sink
noise, toilet or couch until after they checked out and demanded a full
refund. Had they decided not to stay in our home we would have gladly
refunded them, but they stayed the entire length of the reservation. We
have our home professionally cleaned between guests. Our home is a little
quirky, being an old building, the pipes do make noise from time to time,
the old hardwood floor (however beautiful) is not the best noise insulation
and our antique furniture shows signs of its age but is clean and
unstained. We are aware of the toilet issue and the plumber has already
taken care of it.
On a transport note:
Please know that the M train does not run on weekends or late nights (which
all guests are informed of prior to check-in) but that the J train runs on
the same track and runs 24 hours. Marcy Station is the closest train
station to our home but you can also walk to Bedford to catch the L train.
