I live in London and India..Love life I'm into Arts and i'm a sculptor , also a drummer and I'm into Music and travelling
The apartment is well maintained and is exactly like the photos. It is in a peaceful village setting and roughly thirty minutes walk to the beach. Rita is a pleasant, helpful lady. We enjoyed our stay.
Avoid and head straight to Palolem. I stayed at Cana Benaulim with my boyfriend and two friends a week ago, and we paid for 8 days but only stayed for 4 days and regretted staying here for the following reasons:
Benaulim doesn't have much going for it, not much to do, many unhygienic and overpriced places to eat. People constantly aggressively trying to sell to you
Cana Benaulim was a let down. From the reviews here we were of the impression that we'd found a good deal - good price and a nice area. This wasn't the case -the house was dirty (stained bed sheets, dead insects everywhere) and no hot water (sometimes no water at all) most of the time we were there. Very loud outside throughout the night.
This would have been fine (you get what you pay for) if it weren't also for the dishonesty of Rita, the owner. We found her to be fake, dishonest, and petty. I won't bore you with the details but for the purpose of keeping this review helpful here's what I advise if you really must stay here:
Avoid eating here - bland food, small portions, and more expensive than even the tourist restaurants
Arrange your own transport and know that if you book through Rita's recommended "brother" / "cousin" etc she will add her percentage
If booking a scooter from Rita, insist on buying your own petrol if you want to pay the real petrol cost not an inflated price. On our last day we were disappointed to catch Rita sneakily emptying our petrol tank so we could pay her inflated petrol price - which we did as by this time we'd just had enough.
Was the place cheap? Yes. Would I recommend it? No.
Value for money! I would stay again.
I rented the top floor and I have no other words to describe Cana Benaulim than: silent, greenery, paradise and relaxation. Rita, the landlady who lives in the house beside is a gem ( try her food!!). She will help you with everything. The place is awesome, in a very quiet villlage far from the busy noisy tourists spots. Ideal for couples and family looking for a quiet holidays. I didnt even wanted to switch the fan on so we could enjoy the silence. 10 mins from margao in auto, 5 mins from the nearest beach on bike. Lots of shops around. I will definitely come back to Rita's place. Perfection!
Warm welcoming, rita is so helpfull and kind.... a pleasure !
Rita, was in fact a lovely host. I disagree that she is greedy, a gentle upsell of her meal offerings is fine in my opinion.
The apartment, is just fantastic, new and almost too good to be true. I can't expect/ask for a better deal. It's beautiful :)
The location while away from the beach, is still ideal. I just rented a bike at Margao and showed up here on the bike itself. Plenty of food options within 5 mins of driving/riding.
Everything is as shown in the photos. The plastic chairs are also relaxing and tasteful, the speakers in the big bedroom were a boon!
I can go on and on about how i loved the terrace and the village and the neighbourhood.
The place was awesome and the experience was great. It is in a village and very quiet. About a mile from the beach. But best place if you don't like crowds.
The landlady was very helpful though greedy at times. If you are booking anything through her she'll have a cut! But she's an extremely sweet lady.
All in all fantastic.
