From Manhattan, New York.
I had big expectation of my trip and wasn't disappointed. I loved staying at Jen's apartment. As a woman travelling alone, it is really important to be able to stay somewhere that you feel safe and this place was perfect like that.
It's really secure and homey and I was so happy there. Loved it. Everyone minds their own business, but if you happen to see a neighbor on the stoop, they will say hello and be friendly.
The area is awesome and I highly recommend riding around there. Plenty of cafes and restaurants in the area and a couple of blocks to 7th av. is just far enough away to avoid lots of traffic.
I was out all day and got in late each night, and typically slept to 10am in the mornings, so any street noise didn't impact me at all.
The only difficult part was having to leave and go back to my usual life and work.
My recommendation - do it!
When we arrived at Jen's Friday night we were very happy with the place, location and easy parking! We didn't meet her in person but she had left the keys at a nearby deli and she was available by text or phone and quickly answered our questions. Jen's flat smelled good and was perfectly located in Greenwich village, which makes it easy to visit NY attractions by foot. The bed was really comfortable for two, but it is a bit noisy and light in the morning, but didn't bother us much cause we wanted to get up and going early!
We were a bit disappointed that internet access was not accessible with with our Iphones...(it is not mentioned that you need to bring your computer, we thought we would have access to one), and we're also confused about the 78$ cleaning fee since the place is quite small and we are asked to clean up after. Plus, seeing the amount of the fee, the place could've been cleaner... But all in all, we only slept there so we would definitely stay there again! Thanks!
I didn't meet Jen but she was always really helpful and easy to get in touch with if I needed her. She was flexible about check in/out time amd replied really quickly to my initial inquiry, which was fantastic as I urgently needed somewhere to stay after my inital accomodation fell through. The apartment is in a really beautiful part of the West Village and I always felt safe getting around by myself, even late at night. Its easy to get to most of Manhattan either walking or by subway, too. The bed is really comfortable and the kitchen has everything you need to cook if you want to stay in.
It is definitely loud and bright in the mornings as the apartment is close to the street, so if you're coming in late at night and sleeping late in the mornings like I was, you might want to bring earplugs and an eye-mask. I was also a bit confused about the $75 cleaning fee given that guests are asked to clean before they leave. Having said that, I would absolutely stay here again. Thanks Jen!
The studio is located in one of the best streets of New York and in West Village, one of the nicest neighborhoods of the city. It`s a studio but its size is enough for one person and the price is quite reasonable for its situation. The only downside is that is located on the first floor and noise of the delivery trucks early in the morning can be a problem for light sleepers like me. I've never meet Jen, the hostess, but she was always attentive and gave me all the necessary information via mail or (website hidden). I had a fantastic time there.
This was my first experience through Airbnb and it was wonderful! Jen, our host, was very informative, trustworthy, helpful, understanding, and answered all my questions re. the studio/ area in advance without being intrusive, and allowed my parents all the privacy and comfort. Her very cool, clean, comfortable and tidy studio is really the "perfect studio in the Greenwich/West Village area", and i was truly surprised at her very reasonable rates for her lovely apartment. Situated on the first floor, it was very accessible to my mum who had leg surgery and her place was very comfortable and safe for my parents who were visiting Manhattan for the first time. More importantly, although located in the heart of the village, the studio is very quiet and peaceful at nights! My parents loved it! Minutes away from restaurants, delis, the waterfront, subway, Union Square, Soho, Nolita, and the famous Magnolia Bakery round to corner to satisfy any sweet tooth, her studio is located in the heart of culture, arts, cuisine and the neighbourhood residents symbolize a beacon of uncompromising creativity rarely seen elsewhere. Thank you, Jen for an excellent experience!
Jen was a superb guest!
I really enjoyed hosting her. She's super friendly, interesting, and a great person to be around. If you have the chance to host her - don't hesitate. Definitely recommended!
