Frédérique, Gîte La Conserverie à Martel en Quercy
We stayed at La conserverie for 4 nights in March. It is obvious the hosts, Frederique and Pierre have a great sense of style. The house was furnished with a great mix of antique and contemporary, lovely pieces of artwork throughout. The only unfortunate thing for us was the weather. It was raining every day and as it's an old 19th Century home, we found it quite cold. The beautiful garden you can see in the picture we weren't able to utilise due to the rain. I can imagine when the weather is better it would be excellent. As we have a 2.5 year old and a baby, Frederique kindly left some toys for our son who spent hours playing with them. Thank you! Both of our hosts were very attentive and made sure someone was there to greet us the day we arrived. The location of the house was perfect, right next to the medieval village of Martel which had amazing restaurants, markets and cute little streets to wander through. There are loads of cute little villages closeby, so a great place to base yourself if you are touring the Dordogne.
My husband and son & I had a wonderful time at la conserverie. We had an entire apartment/part of the house to ourselves,my favourite memories are having breakfast in the dining room and the apero in the terrace.the place is furnished beautifully+tastefully with vintage furniture + lovely art. If you are wanting a relaxing private holiday and feel like a local this is the place for you,I would definantly return+recommend it to anyone.frederique was respectful of privacy but also on hand to answer any questions. She has also set up a cot+left out some toys for our (website hidden) missing the place already.
