Family living between Paris and New York.
We enjoy the upbeat lifestyle, travel, food, entrepreneurialism & most of all our little baby...
A charming apartment, on a charming street. Designed with class. Comfy, cosy, convenient.
We loved staying in Onur and Alix's apartment. The apartment interior matched the description provided and the location in the Lower East Side was perfect for what we needed. The neighbourhood is very lively and the bedroom faces the street outside, so be wary that it gets very noisy at night and into the early morning, especially Thursday, Friday and Saturday!
The kitchen and bathroom have a French apartment feel to them, and are very quaint. The plumbing is a little old and the hot water is not always at a constant flow, but it's very easy to adjust the temperature, and the resulting adjustment is almost instantaneous.
There are lots of places nearby to eat and explore, including the world-famous Katz's Deli, where the sandwiches are absolutely delicious. The subway is a quick five-minute walk away and serves many areas on Manhattan, plus it leads directly into Jackson Heights and the Citi Field stadium if you fancy catching a baseball game to watch the Mets!
We would definitely recommend staying in Alix and Onur's apartment.
What can you say! The LES is just an amazing place to experience New York from, and truly Onur & Alix place puts you right in the middle of all the action! Everything is easy to get to, whether it's a late night meal (literally at your doorstep are some of the best choices in New York) going across to Brooklyn or heading Uptown. Everyone has said it, it is noisy, from the street especially on weekend nights but nothing we couldn't handle. I was surprised by the stairs, I'm pretty fit, but obviously not stair fit!! They are a killer, but it didn't bother is , it meant you are higher up, closer to the roof top!
The apartment itself is simple and clean. And if you are in New York to be out and about and experience the race of the night life this is a perfect spot!
This is a chic apartment in a very cool area. The flat is pretty basic and four flights up so be prepared for a bit of exercise! The street below is lively with a great cocktail bar in the nearby hotel and several good places to eat and drink close at hand. Be aware that this bit of town doesn't go to sleep early though and noise travels.
The bathroom is tiny but functional and the air con works only for the bedroom so it can pretty hot throughout the flat. We found a good base but we spent most of our time out. Do go to Russ & Daughers for bagels and the Tenement Museum. We also recommend a walk into Brooklyn via the Williamsburg Bridge.
This is the best place to stay in NYC especially if you love to eat and drink and be away from the tourist areas. The street is always pumping, there a convenience stores and subway entrances very close to the apartment. Apartment is comfortable and clean. There's a bit of noise from the street but it's the same everywhere in New York. Stairs up to the room are a good workout. The hosts sent us a bunch of information to make sure we had everything we needed for our stay and were responsive when contacted.
The apartment of Onur & Alix in LES is fabulous - it's exactly as described and shown on the pictures. Tastefully furnished and in a perfect location in LES. It's not exactly a calm place as described in previous reviews and for sure you might get better isolated widows in one of the new hotels next door, however, you would most probably miss all the charm of the lively area. Café Del Rey has been our breakfast spot as it serves excellent coffee and the list could go on. You will not be short of great restaurants and bars in walking distance from this place. It's a safe and still edgy enough area we would recommend to couples but also solo travellers. Alix has been responsive for all questions we had - highly recommended place!
We spent 5 nights at Onur and Alix's place recently and it does provide a real NYC experience. We were fortunate enough to bump into Onur on our way in and he was nice enough to carry our bags up the 4 flights of stairs and show us around the place which was a great welcome and a reflection of these great hosts.
The apartment is in a great area of NYC if you prefer to be in a cooler more authentic neighbourhood. Katz's deli is around the corner which is a big plus and the subway is also very close. There are plenty of bars, shops, restaurants and grocery stores in the area which makes life very easy.
Heads up that the buildings in this area are old and for some people the walk into the apartment could be daunting seeing the cracks etc. The area like most of NYC is pretty loud and the apartment is street facing so you will hear things at night but what do you expect if you want to stay in NYC!!
Thanks for having us!
We had a great stay in Onur and Alix's apartment. Communications were easy and the apartment was exactly as described. Onur and Alix are very responsible and responsive hosts, immediately addressing a cleaning issue we identified on our arrival. The apartment is in a great location with great bars, restaurants, supermarkets and transport all close by. A terrific neighbourhood to explore!
Great neighbourhood - fantastic bars and restaurants at your doorstep. The building is run down but the apartment is styled in a lovely way - as pictured. Onur and Alix were a little difficult to get a hold of during our stay but managed to resolve most queries we had. Overall we enjoyed staying here.
Great stay on the Lower East Side. The flat is exactly as described - very comfortable, functional, hip and authentic! It is also impeccably clean and very spacious. The area is outstanding - the Lower East Side has such a huge variety of amazing restaurants and bars of the highest quality. We were spoilt for choice. It's definitely on the "lively" side - don't expect the quiet Central Park/Upper east/west side type of vibe if you are a first time visitor to NYC. That said, it is a really dynamic, safe and populous area with lots to see and do. You can easily walk downtown to Chinatown/Little Italy/Battery Park (for Ellis Island etc) as well as Uptown to the The Village and shopping areas like 5th Avenue. We took the subway to go running in Central Park and see The Met etc. - all very doable.
So - a fantastic place to see some great parts of the City. Trade off with hotels is of course lack of mod cons like AirCon etc. which I think might be difficult in summer months but aside from that no issues whatsoever. Onur & Alix were incredibly attentive when answering questions - the perfect hosts. The kitchen was very well equipped - they even had Martini glasses (a sure sign of a sophisticated homestead).
Great flat, lively and superb high quality LES location - really authentic and thoroughly enjoyable NYC experience. Book now!
excellent guests! highly recommended!
Onur is an excellent communicator, clean, and very friendly. I would certainly host him again.
