What an excellent time we had staying with Savino. The boat was clean and ship-shape and more than large enough to accommodate us. Savino met us at the dock and showed us around, and then we were able to explore the town. The next day we took-up his offer to have him captain, and sailed along the coast to stop at a beach for some swimming in the clear water - followed with Savino cooking us lunch on board from the fresh ingredients we bought at the dock. We had a pidgin lesson in sailing ourselves and managed to get through the day without grounding the vessel.
A word to the wise - be careful to take enough Euro to fund yourself before arriving. There are very few places to change Dollars to Euro in the town (banks won't change unless you're a customer) due to Italian banking regulations. Savino took us around to various places until we finally found someone who would exchange, but it took about an hour to find. Savino really helped us during the trip
I'd thoroughly recommend this unusual and fun place to say for a short break, and will definitely be rebooking when in the area again. Thank you Savino.
Savino's sailboat was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. It was lovely to sit on the deck and watch the sunset and see the fishermen come and go in the harbour. We had only small handbags, which is good because it would have been challenging to carry luggage on the gangplank, but otherwise a good experience.
A wonderful experience. Savino in a gracious host. In addition to staying on the boat we booked the boat, and Savino as the skipper, for a day cruise. A magical day on the water. Savino also extended himself and gave sailing lessons. The boat itself is charming - well equipped, immaculate, and very comfortable. To top things off Savino arranged for us to have dinner at the yacht club restaurant - normally limited to members. A great meat and well hosted.
The best way to enjoy life in a city with a port is sleeping on a boot. Savino is a very friendly and nice guy and even with the language difficulties we managed to understand each other. The boot is beautiful and we slept so good. I got wake shortly before the sun came up and watched the sunrise, so beautiful. The fresh fish and gambas in the restaurant at the port, which Savino recommended to us, was also excellent and the chef and his wife very nice people too. We will come back next time with more people to also be able to go on a sailing trip as for two people it was a bit too much for our Hungarian budget.
Wonderfull experience! The boat was just what we where looking for. Beautifull sunrise and set from the deck.
We needed a place to stay for that night and Savino responded quickly.
Deffenitly worth doing!!
