The house was lovely and in a fun area!
Drew was an excellent, attentive host, the house was exactly as described and well fitted out with everything you would need, and it made an outstanding base for exploring Philadelphia. Thankfully it was air-conditioned as we hit upon record high temperatures! The area itself is 'lively' however double glazing kept this to a whisper, even on the weekends. Unfortunately it was simply too hot to take advantage of the upper deck, however the views were great.
the city of bRotherly lOVE ....
the Must Sees :
Liberty Bell Center , Independence Hall , Love Park, Rocky Statue ,Philadelphia Museum of Art, The Comcast Bulilding, South Street, Queens Village ....
Let me add to that list the Roofdeck Top at Kater Street Queens Village Philly !!!!
Great time, great city, with the greatest of fRiends ... all while stAying at this Amazing quiet cobblestone street gem ... The pictures on-line do no justice to Drew's beautiful home. Just as you walk up through this narrow Queens Village street you can feel the old quaint historic appeal this home breathes. The Kitchen was one of our favs, extremely functionally and well appointed. Each bedroom has its own floor, affording a great deal of privacy !!! Bathrooms and bedrooms are large and beds were exceptionally comfortable however after appreciating what the 1st 3 floors of this home offers you find with an added PEARL of a ROOFTOP !!!! Great city views, a glass of Wine, a warm summer evening breeze .... You will not regret your decision .....
Drew was great to work with and responsive to all texts and emails ....
Rooftop (email hidden) is a Philly must !!!!
Drew's house is very clean and classy. It is well located off the trendy South Street, plenty of food hotspots and bars. We spent an evening there and unfortunately it wasn't the greatest weather outside as it was a little cold and cloudy so couldn't make best use of the roof deck, but on a sunny warm evening it would be perfect for a few drinks and a perfect kick-start to an evening. We did however, have an issue following use of the bath, there was a leak and water dripped into the kitchen. I contacted Drew, who was apologetic and we dried it up and avoided using the bath again. The only other issue was lack of power in one of the showers which I expect is due to limescale build up, hopefully this will be fixed. Overall it's a lovely holiday home and when I contacted Drew he was reachable and helpful. Would rent again if we ever head to Philly, hopefully during a sunny period!
Response from Drew:
Thanks Gar-On, for letting me know right away. The leak was caused by the bath tub and the issue has been resolved. Also, the 3rd floor shower head has been replaced.
This is a fantastic location, and Drew is an excellent host. If you're visiting Philadelphia, the roof deck views alone would be worth a reservation, but the entire home is an amazing space. Located on a quiet, cobblestoned side-street less than one block from the heart of South street and some of the best bars in town, the location is also ideal. We rented this space as a central location for old friends to get together, and absolutely plan to do so again in the future.
This house is amazing. Perfect location in Philly - within a block of Jim's (my personal favorite cheesesteak), Lorenzo's & plenty of other restaurants, bars & shops on South Street.
All amenities & features are exactly as described. The roofdeck alone is worth the stay.
Highly recommended for anyone staying in Philly.
Drew is a great host! We locked in this reservation just one day ahead of time. Communication was quick and easy. The house is beautiful. Easy to access. Despite our plans to go out and explore the awesome area of town this is in, we spent all afternoon/evening up on the rooftop deck. The only think i would change about my visit is that we should have stayed longer! Whether your looking to stay in a cool area with lots to do or looking to just kick back and relax, this is the place for you.
The place is beautiful! The view from the roof deck blew us away. Had a couple people over for roof cocktails and then had a quiet and comfortable sleep. Never met Drew but he was quick to respond to text messages, and his place was clean and well appointed! Would recommend to anyone!
We were in Philly for the AAN Conference. Drew's apartment was well kept, clean, convenient, and in a wonderful part of town. All within a 20 minute walk are Independence Hall, the Italian Market, Olde City, City Hall, Washington Square, South St, etc etc etc. The roof deck was great and offered great views of the city. The street was quiet.
3 Friends and I went to Philly for a week to go to a research conference hosted in the Convention Center downtown. Drew's place was perfect for our stay. We are active people in our late 20s, and the 2 or 2.5 mile walk to downtown for the conference was very pleasant, safe, and enjoyable. On days we didn't want to walk, we took the bus and caught a transfer, which is easy to figure out. The area of town was perfect - close enough that we could get there easily, far enough that it felt like a neighborhood, not a tourist center. Lots of cool shops, close to a lot of great restaurants (TRY THE BAGEL PLACE!! THE SALMON SANDWICH ROCKS), and even just the decor in the alleys and side streets screams 'artsy and homey.'
As for the apartment, it was awesome. Spacious...the 4 of us slept in 3 beds (2 singles, 1 couple), each on a different level of the house. We used the air mattress Drew provided and it fit just fine between the back door of the apartment and the basement door; it was out of the walkway and semi-private, plus he had his own floor at night. The kitchen was great and modern, easy to find stuff, etc. We enjoyed the rooftop deck a few mornings, though we only wished we'd been there in slightly warmer season since the winter had just about wrapped up when we were there and we wanted to be up on the roof a lot more than we ended up being.
All in all, it was a fantastic experience, and we really recommend the place to people seeking a homey, comfortable, and chic retreat to Philly, be it for vacation or for work. Location, amenities, and hospitality were all fantastic. Hope to stay there again!
Great guest! Would host again
