Mel is a retired chemical engineer /astronomer, loves to hike, ride his motorcycle, watch night skies, and explore nature. He was born in rural Oregon, near Portland, but has lived in Watsonville most of his life. He was working near the Moss Landing towers during the Loma Prieta earthquake, and watched them sway so that they appeared to cross each other. He has travelled the
world seeking total eclipses of the sun. He loves to climb in Yosemite,, recently a two month motorcycle trip around the entire country. He is a great teller of tales, all true.
I, Helen, am an Australian, now American citizen, have lived in England, but for the last many years in rural Mendocino county. I love to plant organic gardens for my clients, travel and explore, both close to home, and around the world. I met Mel 5 years ago, married him almost three years ago.
Mel is retired, I am still creating gardens part time. We both love to look for green flashes, watch meteor showers, eclipses, and spend time in nature. We read books on many topics, and Mel was once a dedicated chess player.. We both own our own homes, are lovers of simple things, love to talk, and love to listen.
We decided to do something different, and explore close to home for our third wedding anniversary, instead of traveling far afield.....so, a kayak journey on the slough perhaps
That should give you some sense of who we are, and our standards and values
