Their first time cooking in an earth oven and they cook a turkey?! and bake a loaf of sourdough bread?! We were impressed! And you know that cleaning up after a Thanksgiving dinner can't be easy - especially in a rustic cabin like ours - but, much to our appreciation, they did a great job.
In the days prior to their arrival, we communicated via e-mail to try to give them a little better sense of living in the cabin. The morning after they arrived, I met with Hanna and John only briefly for maybe 10 minutes just to see if I could help them get started with the earth oven. They seem like a very nice couple. They had their senior dog with them and she was well-behaved. The whole time they were here (3 nights), we hardly noticed their presence.
Our really basic cabin isn't for everybody, but John and Hanna seemed to take to it well. We would gladly welcome them back anytime!
Hanna and John were lovely guests who fit right in to the desert ambiance and tempo. They were respectful of the property and left everything in perfect condition. Charming and thoughtful guests, they will be welcome back at any time with pleasure.
It was an honor to have a genuine author stay with us! Hanna and I had interesting conversation at breakfast, after which she needed to catch her train for the long ride home. A very brief stay... perhaps longer the next time.
