My boyfriend and I had a comfortable stay here, the distance to the subway is perfect and although slightly long, the commute to Manhattan is super easy, even for people like us who have no clue what they're doing. Kara was great in responding to set everything up, I didn't meet her in person but Ryan, the host at the loft itself, was very friendly and helpful. I echo the other comments - this place can be noisy! That's completely based on who's there. Thankfully, out of 6 nights we only had one during which the other airbnbers were up talking late. The wifi is great, the place is pretty clean, the kitchen was super handy and saved us lots of money by having cereal for breakfast! Not terribly private due to the curtains rather than walls but still waaaaay better than a hostel and way cheaper, so I can't complain! All in all, a good place to stay.
I had a great time at Kara's. The place is clean and organized; the bedroom is confortable. The loft is very close to the L- line subway station (which is about 20 minutes from Manhattan) and I felt very safe walking around at night. I really recommend this place!
Very nice loft, within walking distance of a L-line subway station. The host was helpful and the room was clean.
Really awesome complex with awesome people and an incredible view from the roof. Kara and Ryan were very helpful upon my arrival helping me get my suitcase up and showing me around the room. I was only really there to sleep, but I felt completely safe walking around at night. It's only a block from the nearest subway, which gets you to the city within about 15 minutes. Great little corner store with anything you may need. Never had a problem with sound at all while sleeping. The bed is very cozy and warm, and even though there's only a curtain between the balcony area/ living room, it still felt pretty private. The whole apartment was kept very clean while I was there. I would definitely recommend this place for someone who wants a warm friendly place that feels like a second home.
My boyfriend and I were super happy. This building made me love Brooklyn. Everyone was so nice. We even joined a party one the same floor and were welcomed with open arms. We'd stay here again. Kara was also very lovely and helpful. Pointed us in the direction of the beat pizza I've ever had! A++
I LOVED staying here. There is a really comfortable vibration that comes with this space. It has that "old factory building" look, and the things inside are balanced well. I've been staying in many places recently, and for some reason upon my arrival in the Sky Room I completely unpacked my bags and laid down like I was home. I continued to feel that way for 10 days. I had originally planned on staying a wee, but given an unfortunate personal situation, my love for the space, and Kara's awesome communication skills, I was MORE THAN HAPPY to pay to stay, instead of going elsewhere- possibly for free. I can say that it isn't a space for someone who needs a door... the spaces for Airbnbers is basically aligned with the living space. What I found was that the space is up for the people living in it. I had many roommates (all of them awesome,) and the vibe changed from 'all rolling in at unknown hours from unknown places,' to, 'sleepy time, girl talk, creative channeling, and wine drinking,' to, 'pizza eating, beer drinking, music playing, breakfast at 3.' The space was really created by the people staying in it, we are allowed to be REALLY comfortable here. There are other awesome amenities as well... umbrellas, condiments, some foods/tea/coffee, tall showerhead, sunlight rain or shine, corner store deli basically attached to building, subway within a block, people that help you carry things and open doors, slight sound of old hardwood floors, laundry, clothing swap hosting site, amazing things left in the hallway... iPod charger, 'How to make soap' book! The killlller deck on the top of the building gets it's very own awesome sentence! I heard of parties on the roof. Bikes were discussed but never used. The kitchen has just about everything you would need, even if you're used to having "stuff" to cook with, and we are very welcome to cook. Besides all of this, the space, the building, the community is fun to look at. It is an easy trip into Manhattan and Williamsburg on the subway, but I would consider this location to be away from the busy busy of NY. I totally met friends here.
A+++. Great experience. It was a pleasure staying at Kara's clean and well-appointed Loft. If you have any special needs or requests Kara is more than willing to accommodate them. Do not hesitate to stay at this loft, especially if you are a first time airbnb user like me.
Nice room, spacious bathroom and kitchen, good location with easy access to the L subway line. The room has an open wall which is shared with a room next to it and opens to the downstairs area, however the space is private. Although the place was relatively quiet without much street noise, I recommend earplugs/headphones...because of the open wall, you could hear a lot going on downstairs. Overall, I had a good experience and would recommend the place, the host was really nice well and the place pretty clean.
My first visit to New York was quite an adventure after the damages Sandy had left. Some of the subways weren't running. But I found the place and was welcomed by Kara. I kind a liked the loft and my sunflower room. But I must admit that it could have been a bit cleaner, especially the kitchen. But it depends who is staying at the same time in the apartment.
There is a possability that you meet some of the little "pets" around..
The loft has a great terrace, it's easy to get into Manhattan by subway and there are supermarkets around the corner.
If you are travelling by yourself, don't need much privacy, cause almost all the rooms are kind of open and have a good sleep as I do, this is a good opportunity for staying a few days.
Very nice guests! Everything was left in good order, communication was great! Lucky to have them come to stay! Thank you!
Kara and I have know each other for years both at work as photographers and flight attendants - and at play as best friends 4 eva. Her apartment is directly 3 floors up from mine and I often help her out giving keys over to her Airbnb guests if she's away. She has taught me many things, most recently - how to make the best grilled cheese sandwich on earth.
