The apartment was a fun experience. The location is fantastic...just two blocks from the Notre Dame and several train/metro stations. I'd call the apartment "funky"...a tiny kitchen and bathroom, a comfy double-size mattress on the floor for a bed, a fouton couch in the living room for a third guest. DO NOT choose the apartment if you are not agile! The shower requires a climb, as does the 4 floors of an ancient winding staircase. Okay, there's plenty of noise from the streets, but this is Paris and you are smack in the middle of the Latin Quarter! Of course, there's no air conditioning, but open windows and a fan kept us mildly comfy despite some very hot (high 90s) Paris summer days. For the young (and young at heart like us) this is a fine budget choice. Do not go here expecting 4-star accommodations! ...and remember you are sharing a couple's home, so there is a lived in appearance. Their friend/agent Robert, who runs the Vieux Paris cafe beneath the apartment, was very helpful and pleasant, as well. There are plenty of English language guide books in the apartment, so you can leave a few at home.
Thanks to Adrien and Tatiana for sharing their sweet home with us. We enjoyed the ambiance of Paris living and the convenient location.
the three stars are largely for the location. The flat itself is quaint but is sadly in need of some tender loving care.
We would not stay here again. The apt was cluttered and not clean. The owners were slow to respond to questions before we arrived.. I struggled for 20 minutes just trying to unlock the door on arrival. A passing tenant got door open after another 10 minutes. Owner only supplied one set of keys. The bathroom smelled sour, had dirty rugs on the floor, a moldy shower curtain and an extremely awkward hand held shower in a tiny tub that you had to crawl out of. The "real bed" was a matress on the floor with lumpy pillows and a 1 broken light. The "stove" and "oven" were a microwave and a two burner hot plate. "Toaster" a wire rack to set on a burner. No coffee pot. No room to cook in kitchen. The "dryer" a rack to set up in the living room. The apt is very noisy until late from the sounds of clogged tourist streets below and noisy restaurants, then early morning dump trucks and street cleaning trucks. It was hot and we couldn't open the windows due to the noise. There are many vases of dried dusty flower boquets and piles of stuff beind curtains. Just not pleasant. Yes, lots of hot water and a convenient location.
Warning! This apartment was filthy, cramped and poorly equipped. Don't be mislead by the photos, descriptions or earlier positive comments. The bath and kitchen smelled awful. There were used wet washcloths and dirty rugs on the bathroom floor and the walls and ceiling were peeling everwhere. You must climb over the toilet to get into the tiny bath/shower. There was no coffee maker. The washer/dryer and the TV didn't work and there were no instructions, the single bedroom light was burned out and even the toilet brush was broken. It's doubtful the mattress linens were fresh (the duvet certainly wasn't). The owners' personal belongings stored in the living room made it crowded. The owners were not in town and it was difficult to communicate. Only after we contacted Airbnb did we get access information, which proved incorrect - the key was not where we were told. We previously lived in Paris and we travel extensively, but this was one of the worst experiences we've ever had - a real nightmare.
This is a great location in the heart of the Latin Quarter. Short walk to the Notre Dame, canal and many restaurants. Within walking distance to the Louvre, Mused D'orsay and Jardin De Luxembourg park. At night the area around the apartment is very busy with a lot of people getting dinner and having drinks. It is very noisy at night. If you want the nightlife this is the area to be in.
Wonderful apartment in the heart of the Latin Quarter. It can be loud at night but there are several doors to close to keep out the sound of the masses. Very much a Bohemian crash pad so one should not expect non-Parisian amenities such as sumptuous bed or towels. The tub is a bear to get into and out of and the washer was not working- otherwise a wonderful experience. The owners are a bit difficult to communicate with and the lack of advertised washer is the only thing keeping this from a five star rating in my mind.
We had a pleasant stay in this flat last March. Location is awesome, just a block from Saint Michel station and two from Notre Dame, in very vivid and safe area of Paris, ideal for tourists. The flat itself is cosy and warm and has almost everything you could possibly need. Contras: the lack of a proper bed (mattress on the floor instead) and the need of proper cleaning (both kitchen and bathroom were really dirty on our arrival).
A delightful setting where it's so cosy you can easily stare out the window for hours at the exciting passing parade.
So conveniently located, it's a joy to wander the back streets of the Latin Quarter, to get lost and by doing so discover the hidden magic of Paris.
Thank you Adrien and Tatiana for a truly Parisian experience! Your home was indeed a home away from home.
Fun location, within walking distance of most sights...clean,warm and cozy apartment. Because it is on the 4th floor with no elevator, wouldnt recomend it for those who may have trouble with stairs. It is in the heart of a very busy area, I think the activity and nightlife is fantastic, but if youre looking for a very quiet setting, maybe not for you. Adrein answered all of my quetions promptly and gave me a thorough list of good restataunts in the area too. We had a fantastic experience overall...Thank you both for a wonderful time!
I don't like hotels. I like to feel free to have my own coffee in the morning and be in "my own place", so I was very happy to find this appartment. it's spacious, comfortable, and has a charm of its own. The neighborhood speaks for itself, it's simply the best in Paris. I didn't get the chance to meet them but they let me friendly recommendations for sightseeing, eating out, etc. Next vacation, I'll be back because I enjoyed my stay ...and I'm usually very picky.
Paris is fun, their flat is cool and cosy: perfect combination.
I stayed there through a friend of mine who knew them and I found it very practical and nice at the same time. Cool district, full of bars and live music and restaurants. They're nice people. Everyone can feel well here, from backpackers to families with kids. Cool spot.
Tatiana is a really nice hostess and the apartment is awesome! It's warm, cosy and very central. It's a good place for visiting. I love being able to go see "Notre Dame" whenever i want in 2 minutes.
Great Place! I stayed there while I was visiting Paris for 4 days and it was lovely. It's close to everything and really perfect to cool down after a day on the town. There's this real parisian feel to the place and I felt at home. I didn't know them at the time, but they were very helpful and serious. It was clean, cosy and they had left a notebook with tips to visiting the city. I've returned since and always felt welcomed. We even became friends. The best thing about the place is the incredible location, right next to the river. I definitely recommend it.
