work from home, 28 y/o, wanting to see what california has to offer!
Carmen was a good, respectable guest overall. Since however my apartment situation is shared, and a small one bedroom apartment at that, things that may not be an issue in a larger or less-intimate living situation can be somewhat of an issue in a more intimate living situation such as mine.
She tended to sleep about 12 hours each day (and two of those days I had to work from home, right next to her sleeping area). In addition, I try to make the experience for my guests as nice and personal as possible, and feel that I really extend myself (i.e., giving them a starter Metrocard, various helpful information, a clean home, the occasional meal, an offer to stay additional nights for free due to a cancelled flight, etc.). In return, I am accustomed to my guests acknowledging such things, and expressing appreciation as opposed to nonchalance.
Again, this may not be an issue for many hosts, but for me it obviously was; as stated in my listing, this is very personal work for me...I don't just do it for the money. :-)
