Since I don't have the possibility of deleting the comments on my page I would like to make clear what motivated Lana to write such a
negative description of her stay.
After the first night, Lana had to leave Barcelona and go to Amsterdam for her friend to hand in some important papers at her university
She wanted me to give back the money of the 6 nights she had reserved. I work through airbnb precisely because of the security in provides in that matter. I need to be able to count on the reservations I make, especially if they are long terms. Even though I have a strict reservation policy, I offered to give back the money if another host booked those days, which didn't happen. So I finally offered her the possibility to visit Barcelona for another 6 days whenever she wanted or even for some friend of hers to visit at any time in her place. She made it sound like she was leaving Europe and wouldn't be able to come back for some time. I understand she felt frustrated not to get the money back. I also would have liked for her to have been able to enjoy the stay she had paid for, but her sudden take off didn't give me time to cover those days with another visit.
It's true that the apartment is in an old building. There is a lot of antique architecture in the city, specially around the raval and gothic quarter... that's part of living near the center, Plaza Cataluña, las ramblas, colón and down near the port in general. I wrote many times to her saying I had a double room available those nights so I thought she knew she wasn't renting the whole apartment. Whenever a group of less than 4 people write to me I try to make clear whether they want to rent a double room or the whole apartment. For me it's also confusing sometimes, because if it's 4 people, automatically I know the request is for the entire place. But if you are two, there are two options, for you to rent a single room or for you to rent the
entire apartment to yourself. I will try to find a better way to advertise the apartment. Perhaps by having two separate ads.
I'm glad these things happen, as long as they lead us in the long run to better communication.
Best wishes from Barcelona!!
