Love to travel. Breckenridge and Barcelona are my favorite destinations.
Disclaimer: this review does not apply to Tonya, but rather to the property itself and to Peak Property Management. This property was purchased by them after we had already reserved it, but they honored the reservation.
It wasn't really possible to walk to the ski lift because of the snow piled high around the back porch; I wish I had known that before reserving; we were hoping for more of a true ski-in/ski-out experience, and instead had to walk 1/4 mile in our boots to take a shuttle to the base. I would have gone for somewhere closer to a shuttle stop if I had known this.
Be aware you have to walk several hundred yards to get to the hot tubs which are in a different complex. Again, not the experience we were looking for.
There were only two towels for four guests, and we had to call and ask for cereal bowls; the cupboards were pretty bare and stocked with mismatched dishes that looked like they came from garage sales. But they did bring more towels and some bowls the same day when we called.
Even though it was advertised as a great location close enough to walk to things, we just ended up driving into town b/c there was always a place to park way closer than this unit. So we might as well have stayed further away and closer to a shuttle stop.
Still, the view of the river and bridge was nice, and the place was warm and quiet, and all the appliances worked well. The bed was nice too.
If you are looking for a cheap place to stay in Breckenridge and don't mind walking a bit to a shuttle stop and riding in a cramped shuttle with your ski gear, this could be fine for you.
I must say I was not overly impressed by the "apartment". It should be advertised more as a "unit" in my opinion. It is located down some icy steps in the bottom level of a larger "house" which is part of a set of townhouses just outside of town. There is no clotheswasher (vital for overseas travellers staying in the US for a long period) and there could be an issue with parking if its fullhouse. Luckily we were able to park our car near the stairs and drag our luggage and snowboard bag down to the unit. Satellite TV remote did not have batteries and although we had a phone number there was no phone in sight. Temp control was an issue on 1 night when temps dropped to -7 deg F outside. Front door is not sealed well so we could not get the temp we wanted indoors. Biggest issue we had was the owner let herself in with her key without any warning. I think a note under the door that morning would be much appareciated as it took is by surprise. Although I understand it is her "unit" we were not expecting this at all. For the price we paid I did not think this was a pleasant experience at all I'm afraid. We did very much enjoy Breckenridge however.
As you were notified, I sold this unit in October. I'm sorry your stay was not as expected.
We enjoyed our stay. The management company, Peak Properties, was great! Due to weather worries we decided to shorten our stay by a day and stay by the airport. They managed to find someone to rent it and refunded a what they could. The only negative was the bed was a bit too firm for our taste. Fortunately there was a pull out bed in the living room that was sufficient.
Enjoyed our time in Breckenridge. Would consider staying here again.
property was recently sold and now managed by a rental company which has an office at the entrance to the town of Breckenridge. they gave us the keys and maps to the area with other helpful information.
Tonya gave great instructions on how to find the place and "check" ourselves in. The apt was cozy and had everything we could have needed - ironing board, extra space heater, paper towels, coffee maker, dishes, utensils, tv in family room, tv in bedroom, etc. Only thing that would have been nice to have was a hair dryer ☺️ Also, sadly, the family room DVD player did not work.
The location is great - just a minute drive from downtown Breckenridge and the backyard is very cool - it has a nice path close to a little stream, which is neat to walk along while enjoying your morning coffee.
One downside was that the bedroom has a window with only a sheer curtain, no blinds, which bothered me a little. Also, the apt is actually connected to the upstairs two floors, where other people stay, so the sound carries a little bit and you also have to walk past their entryway to go downstairs to get to this lower level apt. There is also a hot tub on the upper deck for the upstairs apt to use, and it drips water on the downstairs patio area, making it difficult to sit outside.
Overall, however, I'd recommend. Affordable and cute place to stay in a great vacation destination!
The place was great. Awesome location and very clean! Tonya was great and provided all the information I needed.
Everything was great and as expected. Place was clean and nice. Easy location to town. Being next to the creek was nice. Tonya provided detailed information that made it easy to find the place and "check-in". Thanks!
The stay went okay. Just make sure you ask if the hot tub is open. I made the mistake of not asking this. It turns out it was closed until November. Location was close to downtown. Nothing too special about interior of condo. Very limited and old school amenities. They need to update to a flat screen tv. What is up with the grandma squishy cushion toilet seat? Other than that Tonya was very accommodating and nice. :)
My apologies about the pool being closed. The airbnb listing does indicate that the pool and hot tubs are closed Labor Day to mid-November. Sorry that wasn't clear to you. Hope you enjoyed Breck.
Fantastic apartment for a quiet getaway. Amazing listening to the river in the backyard. The apartment is a 5 minute walk to Main Street.
Tonya is a fantastic host, answering my messages/questions very quickly. We will definitely stay here when in Brekenridge again.
Seem like great people no trouble welcome anytime!
Tonya was a great guest. Easy to communicate with and respectful of my property.
Tonya and Mark were fun friendly. Communication was smooth. Great guests that we recommend to anyone and would love to have back!
Tonya is a fabulous person and the perfect guest - clean, communicative, respectful, and professional. I could not have hoped for a more perfect guest.
Quick and easy overnight stay!
Tonya was a very great guest!!
Great guest! Very quiet, clean and repectful!
Tonya is a great guest. She's very communicative and friendly. Very easy and thoughtful. She's an ideal guest. Highly recommend Tonya.
She's Airbnb savvy.
Too bad I wasn't able to meet Tonya. 1st night, we were out all night. 2nd night she was out all night. But my husband said she was easy to communicate with, very quiet and clean.
Tonya was great. She only stayed with us for a night, but during her stay she was very clean, courteous and communicative.
I am a friend of Tonya's and was fortunate to be an airbnb guest in her sweet condo in Breckenridge, as well. Tonya is generous of her time and knowledge, attentive and always willing to extend herself on behalf of her friends AND guests. She is honest, reliable and, as an avid traveler herself, understands what is important to her guests. The location of her condo is amazing, and we loved our daily fox sightings and the ease of our 5 min. walk to the slopes! Highly recommend this airbnb host and Tonya, as a person! Have fun, we did!!!
