Love love love this place! Perfect location, right across the harbor. Cafe Haiti across the street is AMAZING. Margret and her daughter are so responsive and nice. The apartment is clean with a great balcony and small little kitchen to allow some meals to be made for all the trekking and hiking you will do! Highly recommend!
Margret's apartment is the ideal crash pad for your adventures in Reykjavik and all of Iceland. Perfectly situated between two pickup locations for all of the bus tour coaches (18b Tryggvagata and Icelandair Hotels Marina) and just steps away from the heart of the city centre (seriously!). You really don't need anything else because the town, no matter how small it looks, will keep you captivated to stay out the entire day.
The apartment itself is exactly as shown. It's comfortable and always warm! The washer and dryer come in handy and you should take advantage of the kitchen to make yourself a quick meal and save yourself a few Krona (Iceland is very expensive).
We just wish we had some good morning weather to enjoy a coffee on the impressive balcony (which really is the Pièce De Résistance of the apartment).
Margret herself is a warm, kind and bubbly personality who is easy to get a hold of and judging by the guestbook in the apartment is flexible with the guests especially those who are first timers in Iceland.
Make sure to check out all of the places that Margret recommends, you won't be disappointed. But everything in Reykjavik is awesome no matter where you go the food will be great, the coffee hot and the drinks are always flowing!
We cannot wait to come back to Iceland!
We loved Margret's little apartment in Reykjavik! The location was perfect for a quick walk to downtown's restaurants, shops & galleries. The apartment was exactly as described and was nice and bright! Margret was quick to assist when we locked ourselves out of the apartment and was there to rescue us within 5 minutes (which we really appreciate)!!! Having a washer & dryer was quite convenient as well after hiking around the national parks all day. If we make it to Reykjavik again, we would stay here for sure!
Margret was a terrific host! Our flight arrived very early in the morning and Margret was gracious enough to meet us at an ungodly hour to let us in.
The apartment is great – very simple but had everything we needed. The location can't be beat. We rented a car and there was a parking lot behind the building that almost always had a spot for us to park in. Great restaurants, cafes, and sights right nearby, but the neighborhood is quiet and calm. The building is quiet and feels secure.
I lived in the apartment for a month, and I loved it!
The neighbourhood is quiet, but you are still in the middle of the city. Lots of supermarkeds in walking distance.
The apartment is spacious and had everything I needed, even a washing machine. The balcony was perfect for morning coffee when the sun was shining. Even though it was September it could get quite hot out there. And some nights I could even see the Northern Light from the balcony!
I didn't have much contact with Margret, but she was very kind and answered all my questions before arrival.
Great little flat with a gorgeous balcony and all the kitchen stuff you need to save a few krona by cooking for yourself :)
Margaret was wonderfully easy to communicate with and the flat was clean, in a fantastic location, and a wonderful base for our Iceland adventure. Thanks!
Another positive thing, not mentioned elsewhere - we rented a car and were able to park it near the flat (~5 mins walk) in nearby streets, for free. This area does have some parking restrictions but if you walk/drive towards Grandi, you get beyond them :)
The apartment is perfect and very well located in Reykjavik. 5 minutes walk from downtown and 10 minutes drive out of town. Margaret is a very pleasant and accomodating host. We had a great trip in Iceland and the apartment has much contributed.
Margaret was so kind to us even if we arrived in the middle of the night and I was calling the wrong number to come to pick us up. The apartment is exactly as in the pictures, I had read that the shower was small, but it is not true, has a normal size, the beds are really comfortable.
The best part of apartment is the location, in the old harbour, so every night we chose a different reataurant to eat fish and it is also nice to have a walk to Harpa or to Laugavegur. On my opinion it is better to stay at the harbour rather than downtown. Great experience!
We enjoyed the appartment It's pretty, sunny, well equipped and cosy. The beds are comfy. We enjoyed the location very much and the balcony was a bonus.
My wife and I had an awesome stay at Margaret's place. It was a clean and cozy apartment in a perfect location. We enjoyed walking minutes away to some of the best restaurants, bars, coffee shops, and of course ice cream places in Reykjavik. Would stay here again!
Margaret and her friend were wonderful peopole to host. They left the appartment in a perfect state and were really nice people to encounter! They're welcome again when they want :-)
